Once again, not about Miller vs Scoot in my opinion.

Teams were willing to trade assets for Scoot.  Hornets missed an opportunity to make a big splash.

I only heard 1 team being serious .. Who else are you talking about??

Portland and New Orleans alone were hell-bent on Scoot.

If Portland had to draft Miller, Dame Lillard was gone in Portland (probably still is).

Why not create a bidding war in Charlotte for #2?  If you can still get Miller along with *anything*, why not trade down 1 spot? It’s stupidity.

Portland wasn’t trying to trade up 1 pick for Scoot.. Especially when most of the league knew we were higher on Miller..

NO wanted Scoot but nobody truly know what they were offering..

Portland was good with getting Miller because he fits them just as much as he fits us.. You ain’t creating a bidding war when only 1 team is putting out in public they are willing to trade up..

What are *you* talking about?  Portland and New Orleans absolutely wanted Scoot (Portland rejected significant Pelican offers) and the Hornets saying they loved Miller over Scoot.

So then just make a trade with either!!!!

Hornets prefer Miller, cool.

Two or more teams prefer Scoot, cool.

Hornets have the highest pick to get either.

It’s not rocket science for the team with the  #2 (Hornets) to trade down to #3 (Portland) and get their guy (Miller) and also another pick or player.

Some of the fans in this forum (you) are just hilarious to me.  Hornets played this poker game wrong publicly.  We agree.

Show me the report where Portland was talking about trading up for Scoot.. Don’t worry I’ll wait..

When you don’t find it don’t worry your credibility is safe.. lol

OH just to help you..

I can keep going if you like.. Most of Portland trade was rumors were trying to get a vet star with their pick to match up with Dame not Scoot..

Mikal Brirdges, Siakim, Lavin, and others were discussed by Portland not trading with us for Scoot..

I read this board, never post.

You’re a known troll, I’m just posting the day of the draft.

I didn’t think the Blazers were trading up for Scoot.  That’s the whole point.  They weren’t because the Hornets made it known we were drafting Miller.  It’s horrible Poker / FF game…Hornets have never had a game-face.  We always tell our hand even when we can make major moves.

Lol.. You were talking about creating a bidding war between Portland and NO??

How does that happen if Portland doesn’t want to trade up for Scoot??

Im a troll but you are posting with no sense of logic..

Reality check : Portland wanted a vet.. NO was the only team publicly trying to trade up for Scoot with us or Portland.. No deal was ever a thing between us and the Trail Blazers..

This isn’t the NFL teams don’t usually trade up 1 pick in the NBA and give a team what they want in value…

If this was ever a thing what was Portland going to give us to move up 1 pick..

Mitch said they had offers. Said something along the lines of they were offered some really good players. If they were going to trade the pick they had the opportunity to trade it pre draft. The Hornets then still make the pick and the trade is announced. Kind of weird to assume a pick swap was on the table with Portland and the Hornets turned it down. That doesn’t make sense. That’s why you’re mad it didn’t happen, because it doesn’t make sense for them to not do it if it’s available. Why would you assume it was available rather than the most likely reason it didn’t happen: it wasn’t available.

Portland wanted Scoot BAD at #3.  Either that or a trade for vets and pics.

Hornets could’ve jumped on that leverage but they didn’t.  Is what it is, but CLT could have done far better today.  And I like and will support Miller.

Jesus I just showed 2 stories showing you what Portland really wanted to do was find veteran help for Dame not another young player..

Reality check is They might be starting over and trading Dame because they had to make this pick…

They did not want a trade up for Scoot.. Where are you getting this from..

And even if they did what were they giving up??

If Portland at #3 and New Orleans at #15 really want Scoot and you (Hornets) don’t want him at #2 but love Miller?

You can’t figure out a deal?

What are we talking about.

    • They also didn't mind it last year during four nations, or when they beat the fins lol. Sour grapes, they had 3 pf the top four players in the world on the ice when we beat them.
    • The tag for '26 is 28M. No way they tag him.  He is projected to be worth around 60M for 3 years so they could still try to sign him on an extension for about that amount: JagsWire   As someone else mentioned, the tag average factors in outside linebackers, aka, edge rushers, in the line backer formula.  If they would distinguish between olb and ilb, the ilb would get a lot less.
    • He didn't actually make the playoffs. We had several opportunities to clinch on our own and crapped the bed. We had to wait for Atlanta to win to get us in. We had the tie breaker in a poo division that had 3 teams finish 8-9.  If you go back and look at the games we played, we weren't a dominant offensive team under him as an OC. We beat the Jets 13-7 and barely beat the packers after they failed to convert multiple red zone trips. We relied heavily on converting 4th downs. DC was also extremely slow at recognizing trends in game and was really lacking with clock management.  Was there progress this year? Yes. But most of it was on the defensive side of the ball. Our offense was stagnant with a couple of exceptions. Any improvement from Bryce was minimal and he kept insisting on XL over Coker, and even RB distribution instead of going with the hot hand.  He may be building something, but I don't think we've seen enough to know what that is. It could go either direction. If he insists on being OC, then without a noticeable improvement, yes he needs to be on the hot seat like any OC would. The more jobs you take on the more you have to be judged on. I think he would have a longer leash if he hired a true OC and just focused in being HC.
