Where we rank: Week 15

Recommended Posts

DEFENSE

Passing: #4 at 193 yards/game

Rushing: #26 at 130.4 yards/game

Turnovers: #4 at 30 total. 19 Picks, 11 Forced Fumbles

OFFENSE

Passing: #28 at 177 yards/game

Rushing: #3 at 148.1 yards/game

Giveaways: #4 at 31, 20 ints, 11 fumbles

SPECIAL TEAMS

-Kickoffs/Kick Returns-

We average 19.8 yards/return, ranked #31. Pathetic.

We allow an average of 26.5 yards/return, ranked #32. Even more pathetic.

-Punting/Punt Returns-

We average 8.7 yards/return, ranked #15

We allow an average of 11.3 yards per return, ranked #31.

-----

If we don't do something about our special teams we're in trouble. I hate taking a deep breath every time we punt. Explosive punt/kick return guys are becoming more and more common, and not only can we not return for poo, the coverage is absolutely pathetic. I didn't realize how fuging terrible it was until I saw the stats. /facepalm

On the defensive side of the ball I couldn't be any happier about it. Could use a little improvements here and there, but overall I'm insanely impressed with the increased level of play we've seen out of them.

Offense troubles are obvious with QB, hopefully we can add an additional WR over the off season. Run game is perfect.

Posted a thread earlier about Carolina's takeaways, but figured I'd make a more in depth post about things =P

We are thirty second in allowed kick return yardage... we have a kicker that is taking up a slot that is suppose to be putting the kick in the endzone about evetry kick... Fox has lost his GDamn mind.

That has very little to do with Loyd. Countless times he kicks it very near or in the endzone, but the returner will just return it because he knows he has a decnet chance at good return, becuase our coverage sucks.

Not saying that our special teams are that great, but you need to look at where the opposition starts their drives on average. As a lot of teams who give up slightly less yardage, also do not kick it as far and thus actually give up more ground. So look for our average given up after how far it's been kicked.

In addition your left out the two most important offensive and defensive stats - points given up.

The vikings started I know at least 2 drives at around there 40 yard line. If our D didn't play the best game I have ever seen we would have easily lost this one. It took our offense most of the 1st half to get going.

I am aware of that, just wanted to point out the better way of analyzing the stats.

Sorry, here are the points for/against stats.

DEFENSE

20.6 points per game allowed at #17.

OFFENSE

17.9 points per game at #20

If you've seen special teams play, you don't even need stats to analyze it. Whether we're kicking it to the end zone or not, our coverage is still pathetic when they take it out.

    • I think you should see the OP for pretty big reasons why that is a completely incorrect take given this is a Dave Canales team.
    • TMac is a good player and would've been the right pick if our QB could throw a ball farther than 40 yards. For this team's current build (run first, game management passing attack) and the fact that our TE's are laughably bad - the five on our roster have combined for less than 600 yards total, with 3 TDs - Warren should've been the pick.
    • If anyone feels like they can't have a conversation about Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career maybe assess why and how these conversations end this way instead of looking to shoot the messenger. Why is it okay to label anyone else on the team or coaching staff trash? Folks on the huddle and across the fanbase on social media have fully thrown anyone and everyone including rookie 8th overall pick TMac fully under the bus multiple times this season. But some of you guys apparently expect a pat on the back because Bryce Young successfully evaded a few potential sacks while Tyler Shough got consumed by our pass rush throughout the game and still had a superior performance. The state of this division is hilariously mediocre at best. Bryce Young is the only player on this roster who is allowed to have the lowest bar possible yet we have invested the most resources in him. It's lunacy.
