Matt Moore one of the best throwing over 20 yards

I like that throw. Both passes that have the "zip" are inside routes (Moose's 1st down and Smitty's TD pass). Mooses TD pass (on the outside) hung in the air a bit as the CB was caught looking in the backfield. Was it an intentional floater, maybe. Look, Moore doesn't have a cannon arm and isn't a great QB yet. Heck, Trent Dilfer won a Superbowl with a solid run game and a stout defense.

I want to see what he kid is made of when the chips aren't all in his favor. That will tell me if he's got what it takes to be a starting QB in this league.

thats my question what do you consider a "cannon arm" and a great qb? would any rookie we ever draft fit in that category?

just watch the vid bobcat.

watch his eyes on the moose touchdown. watch him go through the progressions. watch the "zip" on the ball to moose and smith. watch him spread it out to different receivers.

Watching that does give me hope...but I'll still take the wait and see stance.

All but the pass to King...ugh

I'm not ruling out Moore as a starter next year, though I am approaching this with some caution. Jake didn't have a cannon either, it's not manditory, though Moore's throws have been spotty. The Giants game was his best to date. I've said it before, though not in this thread. Can he repeat that? We will see.

C'mon man, you know a cannon arm: Farve, Elway, Marino, Peyton Manning.

As far as a rookie QB, I like the LaFevour kid out of Central Michigan.

Moore may not be the Messiah but since he's come in he has been one of the best QB's in the league. Given the fact that we have no better QB on the roster, no first round pick and no good options in FA, I'm feeling pretty damn good about Moore. Get outta hurr trolls.

ncbobcat I am not sure what your issue with Moore is but he is CLEARLY the reason why we are winning games we are supposed to win. And why we are beating teams we weren't supposed to beat. Oh I am sure you will say that J. Stewart did it all. 300 plus yards in rushing. The trick is. Play action passing. Defenses are having to make sure he isn't throwing the ball. With Jake they were daring him to throw.

Matts Arm Strength is a plus. Go back a watch the video on S. Smith touchdown. The ball was on a rope and got there in a hurry.

What is your solution? Who or what is it you want. #1 Pick, Jason Campbell, Frank Reich? Hell maybe we should go and get Kerry Collins from Tennessee.

The team should be given to Matt until he shows he cannot run this team. We should go into the offseason with Matt as starting QB. If a QB comes in via F.A. or Draft. They will be #2. PERIOD.

Go Panthers

interestingly, it's been his shorter stuff that's been off... quick outs and the like. i was a pretty big moore critic at first, but he's been deadly accurate on the deep throws lately.

Short throws are all about timing and familiarity, deep throws are much less sensitive to those things. This is not to say that his short throws are going to get a lot better all of a sudden but it's not a stretch to imagine they'll get better once he has more time with these guys.

    • Jake in his prime was a gutsy QB. But just like with even someone like Cam. Father time is undefeated. It's very unfortunate we have a guy who is only 24 years old that has an equivalent arm to that. Absolutely blows my mind that our brain trust lacked the basic common sense to value arm talent when making a massive trade with ramifications for years to come. Unforgivable incompetence.
    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
