In the US, Charlotte pro teams have gone the second-most years without a championship

I sure like it here. A block from Bobcats Arena, PSLs to the Panthers, great rewarding job, family lives in town as well as my best buds.

I'd rather live in a cardboard box in West Charlotte than live in Raleigh though. I lived there for five years and it's nothing but a college town for the most part. I did Durham for a year too and it's nothing but a hippy filled ghetto. Chapel Hill is about as big as my closet, Cary is full of rich Yanks, Greensboro's only highlight is the color in its name, and Wilmington is at the beach. I already have a house at the beach in SC.

WOW, at first I was going to seriously respond to someone preferring charlotte to the triangle, which is the one region of the state keeping us from being a terrible state like TN, but then I saw you use words like yank and hippy. The house in SC just seals the deal, LOL.

Guess there's not enough NASCAR in Raleigh for you, huh? haha Thank god this state as a whole is shifting away from people like you and making us more respectable.

When there's one team for the entire state for each of the major professional sports, and when 2/3 of the teams take the name of the region (not city) they represent, then yes it does.

Agreed. Carolina has won a championship recently. Last I checked Charlotte was in carolina, and is represented by the hurricane franchise.

What are you babbling about? Now excuse me, I must go nap on my bed made entirely from $100 bills.

ok....you are completley disregarding the original conversation, formula, and point of this discussion. the thread has a link of a statistic of CITIES that have atleast 1 professional sports team (charlotte has 2) with the longest drought of championships. you cant change the rules to make yourself feel better.

well....you can. but it sounds ridiculous. the city of charlotte is the longest running CITY without a professional team champion based on the original links statistics....which is the base of this entire thread.

if you count panthers than you have to count the hurricanes. both are carolina just 2 different cities.

exactly why it SHOULDNT count......the statistic is based on championship droughts for CITIES. Thats the entire point.

Raleigh is part of a large metropolitan area. Unless you lived on Hillsborough Street, its kind of hard to say it's just a college town. As for Durham, it may be a hippy filled ghetto, but thats better than just being a regular ghetto like Charlotte.

Let's stop fighting, because it's obviously Wilmington is the best city in NC.

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
