Bears coaching casualties

Epistaxis

Recommended Posts

Ron Turner out as OC, per Sun Times, as expected.

Also TE coach and QB coach Pep Hamilton, as expected.

Early rumors that Marinelli was going to get DC gig, but that doesn't appear to be the case (conflicting reports).

Also early rumors that they were going to hire naked drive-thru DUI Detroit guy to be new DLine coach if Marinelli moved up the food chain, but since Marinelli is now NOT supposed to move up to DC, that remains unlikely.

Press conference for 2:00 PM Central and this will get cleared up.

You know what is worse than 7-9 and underachieving?

Trying to make your coaching staff look more like the Loins from the early to mid 2000s.

Crap.

Whatever, until they clean house from top to bottom this is just rearranging the deck furniture on the Titanic.

Martz as head coach? Definite no. OC/QB Coach? Definitely.

PFT says they're going after Cutler's old QB coach, Jeremy Bates, instead.

Wasn't Martz the OC in Detroit with three first round Wr's in his great passing philosophy, how'd that work out? I think he failed in San Fran too. No on Martz....no fuging way.

Martz's system will get Cutler killed with our current Oline and WR corps.

I wanted Holmgren and if not him then Cowher and his cadre, but it looks like the dude from USC will get the nod.

meh

Again.....deck furniture, Titanic.

Waitin' till next next year since I expect more of the same crapulence next year.

I'm not a really big fan of Martz' scheme in Chicago. I don't think we need a completely new scheme in Chicago, either. I think with the experience our guys have gotten in the Ron Turner version of the WC Offense, we just need a little bit more creativity put into the play-calling.

On the other side of the ball on the other hand... I think the Cover 2 is caput. I can also see Fewell coming back and running the D, which would mean more of the same Cover 2 getting blown on 3rd and 7

With Carroll supposedly in SEA, scratch Bates off the OC list.

But, Bates could complete a 1st rounder merry-go-round by giving up theirs for Cutler. Chicago would have Seattle's, Seattle still would have Denver's (Alphonso Smith trade last year), and Denver would have Chicago's.

    • Hornets up 11 after one. 36-25.  Foul trouble brewing though  Diabate has two Miller has three.
    • I think Lane is spot on and I do respect his opinions.    ROUND 1:  Best value:  Edge, Wide Receiver, Cornerback.  I predict overdrafting OT and a run on edge will drop WRs and maybeCB  lower and a great value could land in our lap.  Could we do it again?  In the words of Brittany Spears, “Oops.” Corner?  Well, I think we will move Smith-Wade to FS at some point.  Smart, calls coverages.  Jackson is gone after 2026. . Get a nickel later, however, unless a stud CB falls. Please don’t draft TE here. Edge?  On paper, we are strong, but you can never have enough pass rushers.  We will leave awesome at one position that we may not have listed as a primary need: Edge, CB, or WR. ROUND 2:  Best Value: Linebacker.  I do not see us drafting another position here.  LB–Hill (longshot), Rodgriguez, Golday. Edge (second tier–Height, Jacas, Moore, Young, Howell–would be hard to overlook, but our GM is a former LB)  S A Haulcy is a darkhorse possibility. ROUND 3:  Best Value:  Defensive line. Halton (OK), Jackson (Fl. St), Durant (Penn State).   ROUND 4:  Best Value: Center.  Slaughter, Hecht, Jones, Lew, Coogan, Jones, Zuhn.  This is the only real option.  We should take our center in round 4. ROUND 5:  Best value:  They will be looking for a developmental OT here if not addressed sooner.  Jude Bowery ((BC), D. Crownover (RT-Tex AM), Wagner (RT-Notre Dame) seem promising.      This is the way.  Great summary and I feel its on the right wave length.
