2010 season is looking more and more like a throw-away season...

No one is jumping up and down, we just don't agree that your analysis is accurate or less speculative than the alternative we have posted.

Deep down, you guys agree to an extent. It is just a matter of how much you want to take in. I agree with you guys to an extent as well.

Fox can go 11-5 and make the playoffs and it still be a throw-away season. Maybe Richardson will come out and support Fox like he did 2 years ago when "Fire Fox/Hurney" talks got heated. That can still happen. Right now, it seems like JR is telling Fox "No more excuses. Super Bowl(NFL Championship maybe?) or bust! Don't f*** this up."

Instead of being a throw away year everything is lined up for a playoff run next year.

Everything was lined up this past season as well. Every year is supposed to be lined up for a playoff run when you're as talented as we are. I don't disagree with what you're saying, just adding though.

Mr. Richardson has always been a quiet businessman ... a very successful, quiet businessman. It's not his style to "let us know" what's going on. Trust me, he knows what's going on, through and through ... and the new president is the same type.

I hope so. I keep forgetting he was out of action last year.

Ok, so why are people jumping up and down because I said it is likely that JR is "throwing away" one season in order to make a better business move?

Because you said he is hands-off. No one denies he is a businessman.

Read my first post.

[...]

I did. You said JR was hands-off and just a businessman.

Read your own first post, and then this you stated in posts after that:

Also, I think the reason why I made this thread might be misinterpreted. I'm predicting unless something spectacular happens like going to the Super Bowl or starting out hot like 11-0 (either not likely to happen), Fox/Hurney/Jake will be gone after 2010.

Why, yes you did say that. However, one of your main points (the biggest one, I might add) was that JR is a businessman and hands-off.

This thread is a rant against JR (whether or not you intended that) and that is the problem that I and quite a few other posters had with it.

Everything wasn't lined up this year. We had a quarterback coming off a disasterous playoff loss, we had a brand new defensive scheme with totally new defensive coaches and we had no offensive depth, a potentially disgruntled DE and a good running game. Key injuries to our defense both on the line and with the linebackers kept us from reaching our potential.

This year we have a quarterback posting a 98% passer rating in the last 5 games, a great rushing game, depth on the o line we developed, a top 10 defense and a DE that says he is not disgruntled this season. Our defensive line and linebacker core will be deeper than ever given how many guys played this year.

Not at all the same or even close. Davidson finally has the quarterback to build upon like he did in 2007 before Jake went down. Moore has experience under his belt and can go into training camp and preseason getting work with the ones. Meeks has a year in the system and players will come out like they finished last year, and the opportunity to come out of the chute much better than they did this year.

And lastly if 11-5 and going to the playoffs is a throw away year, then I want some of that!!!!

Yes, I did intended for that. But anyway, JR doesn't get enough blame. Geez, I'm not saying he is a horrible owner or anything. I do know he was out for a period of time getting a heart transplant.

And JR is a hands-off owner, which is not a bad thing. Most of the time, he stays away from the media and let Fox/Hurney handle stuff during the season. I cannot see JR pulling a move like the Titans owner did to bench Collins or pulling crazy signings like the Redskins owner which leads me to believe he is a hands off type of guy. People believing that JR is making all these decisions behind the scenes like Jerry Jones do up front is crazy. Danny Morrison was prolly hired to do most of that job.

But, this approach backfires on you if the guys you put in control are messing up...insert Fox and Hurney. Fox/Hurney/Delhomme get most of the blame when some of it should go to JR as well.

I don't blame you guys for taking offense. I know some guys who will defend Dan Synder to death. I wouldn't lump JR in that type of category, but I think JR is at fault if he sticks with Fox/Hurney because he doesn't want to lose money even though he doesn't believe he will win a Super Bowl with them or doesn't want them here. Based on current reports, it is really not hard to believe.

I would believe that if we didn't boast that 12-4 record/returning 21 of 22 starters BS which we repeatedly did. We expected to at least make a deep playoff push. I don't know why, but it seems like this team can't handle being a "favored" team. We have to come as an underdog to suceed. Injuries weren't the biggest concern because we played our best football near the end of the season with alot of players out. Biggest dilemna was expecting Delhomme to be a good QB this year after his disaster in Arizona and giving him that extension as well as riding the whole season out with him.

I agree with you guys that we have a chance to do some great things next year. I can't gauge what will happen just yet.

Of course mangement thought they would be great but few others did. I admit I predicted 10-6 in 2009 so I was 2 games off. I also predicted we would be 1-2 or 0-3 at the bye given the defense wasn't gelling. And injuries were a huge problem. That and the quarterback who will go unnamed.

I don't think 2010 will shape as anything close to 2009. We have depth and the players and schedule to return to the playoffs. From there who knows.
