Greg Williams suggesting the Saints injure Manning or overreaction by Mike Florio??

So let me get this straight guys. Every Sunday every defensive passrusher in every game since the birth of football has had the goal of hitting a QB as hard as he can as many times as he can. Greg Williams talks about this and he's the douchebag.

There are reasons why there are rules that you can't level players receiving or passing... because they are defenseless, focusing on making a play on the BALL, rather than protecting themselves from a shot.

And there are provisions for "unnecessary roughness", because trying to seriously injure someone isn't part of football...

This past Sunday, and against the Cards, the Saints were going over the line. The fact that Williams is touting this behavior as acceptable means to me that he is not in fact, wanting to play the game by the rules.

Based on what's gone on during the playoffs, and what he's been saying, I think the NFL should fine him and suspend him from the Super Bowl.

This also begs a question... what sort of dirty play is the Saint's O trying to pull? Holds? Chop Blocks? Push offs?

If you seriously think that this sort of thing is appropriate for football, just because your team is doing it, you need to take off the Saints glasses and check yourself.

Overreaction.

Golic and Jaworski on Mike and Mike today said there is nothing wrong with how the Saints played and the Williams comments happen all of the time. A big non issue. Reporters stirring stuff up for fans who don't know the what football (a violent and mean game) is all about.

People might be overreacting, but this was a mistake by Williams, nonetheless. Now those Colts defenders are going to be coming after Brees just a little bit harder (*** for tat), and with this out in public, I wouldn't be surprised if the refs are a little quicker to throw the flag against the Saints for anything that's even close to a cheap shot.

if this hadn't been williams strategy in every other game he's coached then i would say overreaction.

williams is a scumbag coach and probably an even worse human being. trying to take the cheap and easy way out by hurting your competition rather than beating them.

wow. another reason to hate the saints.

:iagree:

I have hated GW's defenses. I've seen them, however, get so hyped up that they fall apart. We'll see.

Saints fans are probably whining about this thread on SaintsReport right now. Hey guys! You and your team can suck it!

:smilielol5:

i guess he's also forgetting that peyton manning is a cyborg.

and will detect any blitz and destroy it.

:patriot:

I love the way the Colts probably have this on their bulletin board but aren't giving the Saints anything back for theirs. Best strategy.
