Bobcats eye Thompson

i dont have Insider.. does anyone else?

I don't have insider either but I can't imagine the Cats having the assets to get Thompson nor being able to steal twice from the Kings in the same decade. Thompson is averaging 13 and 9 right now and I think would be an immediate upgrade over TC, though I suspect the Bobs would want him to play the 4 spot.

From the Sacramento Bee

Charlotte – which sources say would be very motivated by any trade involving Kings second-year forward Jason Thompson – has a logjam of centers whom the Kings may inquire about: Nazr Mohammed (6-foot-10), DeSagana Diop (7-0), Alexis Ajinca (7-0) and oft-injured Tyson Chandler (7-1). The Bobcats may also have interest in the expiring contract of Kenny Thomas ($8.7 million this season), as he has been highly regarded by Charlotte coach Larry Brown since they were together in Philadelphia.

Here ya go...

"I think if we're going to trade for another player and take on significant money, you'd have to feel like you're getting some real bang for your dollar," Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie told The Sacramento Bee.

With that in mind, it's probably unlikely the Kings will trade Jason Thompson to Charlotte. Sources tell the newspaper that the Bobcats would be "very motivated" by a deal involving the power forward.

The Bobcats are stacked with frontcourt players with limited trade value.

Frontcourt players the Kings might have interest in could be the Warriors' Andris Biedrins and the Wizards' Brendan Haywood.

Nazr Mohammad needs to stay he is a true Center, unlike Chandler. However, I would not be against this trade.

Kings Acquire

Tyson Chandler- 6.6 ppg/ 7 rpg/ 1.2 bpg

Alexis Ajinca- 2.2 ppg

Acie Law- 3.5 ppg/ 1 rpg/ 1.7 apg

Bobcats Acquire

Jason Thompson- 13.3 ppg/ 8.8 rpg/ 1.9 apg

Kenny Thomas- 1.6 ppg/ 3.3 rpg

Maybe throw in next year's second rounder to get the job done.

Say no more, that trade is golden.

We get rid of two under-performers and Tyson's expiring contract.

Jason would instantly makes this team a legitimate playoff berth team, all the while making Boris Diaw expandable, also Larry's been high on Kenny T since his Philly days.

Make it happen Rod.

Boris isn't expendable despite some fans' dislike for his sometimes lacking effort and aggressiveness. His ball handling skills and ability to play the 5 in the small lineup have been key to this team winning games.

Would love it, but I doubt the kings let Thompson walk for pretty much nothing.

have any of u watched thompson, id consider trading boris... but id do nazr or chandler whatevr it took kids a stud and can move... i liek him alot, plays hard

He has a consistent 15-18ft shot, has range beyong the arc, explosive, young and never suffered setback-esque injuries.

The last few times we played them I always remembered myself saying what if we had a KG-2 like player.

Aside from Randolph, Jason is the next best thing.

And yes if they wanted a player for player trade involving Diaw I'm all for it.

No use in wasting a pipe dream on hoping Diaw can become some consistent player because he won't and the fanbase knows it.

I think come playoff time Diaw's gonna be giving it his all, but fatass needs to lose some weight. I think if anybody can motivate him it's gonna be larry and stephen jackson. Jack don't take poo from nobody. I'm sure he's called Boris out to his face, and would you want to be called out by Stephen Jackson?

Haven't seen much of Thompson so I can't really speculate on what he would bring to the team, but we need another big.

    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
