A Saint fan's take on the Panther's offseason

Saint J 007 007, stop masquerading as a Saints fan on your front-running bandwagon, and come home. You know way too much. Take off your disguise, be a man, and admit that your true affections are for the Panthers. Either that, or continue to be a double agent troll.

Anyway, I am not too sure about Moore and absolutely have been unsure about Delhomme since before the Huddle. Moreover, more importantly, the histroy of our FO says that Delhomme will be the guy. What do ou think that they are going to do, drop him after Moore is signed? They Jedi Mind-tricked themselves into giving him a 20 million dollar extension. You think that they are just going to leave that on the bench? They must have been smoking some good stuff during those negotiations. Either that, or they got a hold of some bad Gumbo.

In reference to Davis, we will probably be virtually forced to re-sign him for big money notwithstanding whether his injury will profoundly affect his play.

Don't get me wrong, I am his fellow Georgia alum, but I just hope he can jump in the game where he left off. Truthfully, he hasn't been our best player

for the last couple of years---that would be Jon Beason---but he was well on his way to being that guy last year.

Yes, I am a believer in Charles Johnson (another fellow Bulldog). It's his time to shine, and I think he can do it. Speaking of Johnson and Davis, the Panthers must have a scout with an affinity for the Georgia Bulldogs. Corvey Irvin may be that DT that we need in another season. I believe that he is Ron Meeks' kind of guy. Moreover, personally, I wouldn't mind us drafting Geno Atkins and/or Rennie Curran (if Curran is still available i the third). I believe that Curran has the same type of drive and motor of Thomas Davis, after all is said and done. Atkins is another billed as "undersized", but the guy has potential and value as well (and should be available).

Some in the Huddle keep talking about Gary Barnidge as having more upside than Dante Rosario, but I am with you. Rotoworld had a take on Rosario last year which basically said that Rosario would be a top five TE if the Panthers would maximize his opportunities, and I have always agreed with that analysis. He may not be an elite blocker, but he has made great strides. don't get me wrong, Barnidge has upside also, but I still don't believe he is as athletic as Rosario. I think that we will be alright either way, provided that

Fox and the OC get smart (uh-oh).

Anyway, take your brass imitation of your Super Bowl ring and throw it in Lake Pontchartrain. It ain't worth the bill that you paid for it in that Circle K parking lot.

I don't want to trade one of our backs. It's equivalent to Colts/Saints trading one of their Top WRs. It ruins your depth. It leaves you with new unknowns. And Teams don't have to gameplan as hard against the run. Plus if something like what happened this past season happens, ie. one of the top backs having to miss time, We may not have the luxury of having #1b. Besides, if we hoard all the good backs, then other teams can't have them :D

Secondly, while our line has been good, having a good experienced rb who can make his own plays i.e. dwill, would be good when the oline has one of their injury episodes. Which they've been prone to.

Thirdly, Dante Rosario is a playmaker in waiting, however for some reason I just don't trust him when the ball isn't supposed to go to him. He doesn't seem like a Steve Smith or a Moose in that regard. And if People quit overthrowing Barnidge, we could have two TEs with playmaking potential. I wish we'd utilize the TE screen more.

why not trade 2011 1st rd pick and this years 3rd rd pick to get into the 1st this year and take someone like golden tate or brandon graham, then in the 2nd take jacoby ford or a DE like greg hardy

I have a feeling something like that will happen.

I hope not. The Raiders traded there 2011 #1 to the Patriots and I expect there will be a Rookie cap in place by then. Let's not bite off one more ridiciulous #1 contract this year when next year it will probably be at a huge discount. Learn from the Pats organization Panthers.

No, let's not. We have to stop the bleeding. Trading away next year's first round pick every year is like robbing Peter to pay Paul.

TopDawg I think you got it right. SaintJ is one of our long lost fans but doesn't want to come out of the closet yet.

Personally I could care less what he has to say about our team.

Other than that I wish he would go to his own site and stop braggin about the F_ing Saints.

GO AWAY SAINT J

We need a DT that can collapse the pocket, we need a more athletic strongside LB, we need another real threat WR, we need to start Moore, we need a real Punt Returner, and that's just about all we really need.

I see you are 18

Of course your post told me that first.

Diggs is the best deal on the team.

Super conistant and cheap.

WR is obvious.

Baker ? was fine till last year, of course he had the worst ST coach in 40 years coaching him up.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
