Yanks vs Oranje Today

The Yanks take on the Oranje today at 2:30p on ESPN2.

This will be a nice test of the Men's Nation team before the World Cup starts in South Africa in June.

The last few friendly matches the Yanks have been without their European based players and had poor showings against El Salvador (2-1 W on stoppage time goal), Honduras (1-3 L), Denmark (1-3 L), and Slovakia (0-1 L).

Let's hope the US can put on a strong showing against a perennial powerhouse, the Netherlands (FIFA Ranking 3rd). Our European based players will be back for this match, by the end of the day we should have a better idea of how the US might fair in June.

Let's go Yanks! Time to serve warning to the world - DTOM - Don't Tread On Me!

Back in the mid nineties I was in Louisville with a Dutch dude doing a big install. After work we hurried to a sports bar to see the Orange team play in the World Cup and it was interrupted to show a white Bronco driving down a highway, it was pretty funny.

Too late of a recovery....:boxing_smiley: :D

No problem, I looked for a thread on the match before posting. I thought there were a few soccer fans on the board who might be interested!

I didn't expect to beat the Dutch.

Meanwhile, Eng is 1-1 with Egypt. But i don't think Rooney is even playing. Oh and that capt fiasco..

I didn't either pstall, just hopeful of a nice showing.

As I typed this GOAL USA!! Nice to get on the board before the end of the match!

Carlos Bocanegra (89)

Yeah England is a mess, they will get it together for the tournament though.

I would not mind seeing the Dutch lift up that cup at the end, if not us.

We REALLLLLLLLLLLLY need Clint back.

Yeah I don't hold any grudges towards the Dutch. One of the best national teams to have never won a cup, so I could see pulling for them.

Just to prove no hard feelings I'll probably partake in a few Heineken tonight! :D

    • We won't know the answer to this for a long time. Reality is, Caleb has been the consensus #1 in that draft for years. Bryce was a similar situation, but mostly the same. He was not the clear and obvious #1 that Caleb was, but most teams had Bryce at QB1. The Panthers were always going to be terrible Bryce's rookie year.  I don't think DJ Moore's presence would have changed anything about that offense, as our guards, center, and left tackle were getting demolished on nearly every snap. It's clear Caleb's dad was trying to do everything possible to ensure Caleb didn't end up in Chicago with Eberflus. It's hard to imagine that he wouldn't have done the same, but probably more publicly with our situation, considering Carolina is an easier target for the media than Chicago. We can all speculate, but it's impossible to tell who is going to have the better career on May 16, 2025. If either QB doesn't pan out, we have an easy answer. If both flame out, the bears clearly won the trade, but it wouldn't have really mattered anyway. We all know how we win the trade. Candidly, even if one of the other picks we gave up ends up being a hall of fame player, we don't know if the panthers would have taken that player anyway. All you can do is make the best decision you can in the moment with the information you have. I really like Bryce Young, and I'm glad he's a Carolina Panther.  The only way to win in the modern NFL is to have an absolute dude at QB. I personally am happy that our franchise recognizes this, as I remember times when they did not.
    • This year, there's been enough positive talk from core players, free agents, and coaches to where I believe the culture building and momentum is more important than fighting for a worse record.
