Middleton Place is gorgeous -- it's something that you and your wife might find romantic, and your kids will like to run around and see all the wildlife.

My wife and I went in to Charleston in June of last year for our honeymoon, and Middleton Place was one of my favorite sites down there. There are snakes and alligators all over the place (I got within three feet of a smallish gator). It's just a beautiful spot. They had a wine and cheese tasting the day we went, which was cool considering we're big Panthers fans.

I see a lot of people suggesting the Asheboro Zoo. While this is a completely kick ass zoo, you do not want to go there Epi. Unless you want to make it a 2 day ordeal. If you are going in the summer you probably REALLY don't want to go there.

The zoo is freaking huge. If you walk the entire length of the zoo, it is the equivalent of walking the Appalachain Trail. Which isn't really a problem, but with a 4 and a 2 year old you will probably be wanting to kill yourself by days end. They have buses that go from one end to the other but you will be waiting in line with about 400 obese fugers on oxygen.

It is a kick ass zoo though.

Asheville is nice because of the Parkway, but I don't think it is the best place for kids unless you are just going to camp out and do outdoorsy things. There isn't that much to do compared to the coast for them.

Biltmore isn't worth it imo.

I'm from Asheville btw.
