Fox: Cutting Jake was best for the team

Makes me think back to quotes like these...

Unfortunately that will never happen as long as Fox and Jake are still here. No matter how well Moore played it will still be Jakes job to lose as long as Fox is the HC. Sad but true.

There's nothing to dance around. Its Jakes jobs to lose plain and simple.

Fox gave away what we pretty much already knew about him. He stuck with the guy giving with a rating of 59 until he had to bench him because of the finger injury. Call it loyality, fear of the unknown, Moore not acting like a Fox type football player on the practice field, or whatever...that was still dumb dumb dumb.

I'm so glad JR is calling the shots now. Fox's stranglehold on the FO is loosened and he cant be ultra conservative/safe anymore.

I do believe Fox thought he was doing the right thing keeping Jake as starter.

I don't believe he had to be forced by JR to cut Delhomme. I think he saw the same writing on the wall everyone else did.

Fox may make bad decisions sometimes, but he's not an idiot.

oh, definitely. People got what they wanted with Jake benched, but cried about how they got it. Now it's a conspiracy that he got let go even though Fox's own words explain his actions.

Every coach in the league makes bad decisions from time to time. Sometimes you'll even hear them look back themselves and wonder "what was I thinking".

It's just being human. People need to remember they still are.

How can you hate him, then? Maybe it was a mistake, but if he thought he was doing the right thing...?

I don't hate Fox. I look at his entire body of work here from day 1 and see a lot more good than bad and I am (mostly) glad he is sticking around for one more year.

But no matter how you look at last season and try to come up with multiple excuses, 95% of the problems come down to two things: QB and special teams play and QB makes up a majority of that. Those two things come back to Jake and Crossman and they come back to Fox sticking with his guys. We all know it, we've seen his trends and coaching styles be this way for..well a long time excluding perhaps the 1st two seasons. At times it has worked but this time it failed.
