Is there a WR in the 2nd that is better than Brandon Marshall?

Recommended Posts

No the reason is he's a average run blocker despite his size .as long as S.Smith is here he will be a 2Wr and last but not least the second he tries to fake a injury like he did in Denver S.Smith will Knock him the @##% out:D

money + headaches says we steer clear

I would tend to agree but given our track record on WR's, in drafting, coaching, and FA acquisition something has to change. Marshall is a surefire playmaker on the field and I would put money on him being a good little boy for a year or 2 (after that who knows). If it wins us a SB or even gets us there (which I think this trade could have that magnitude look how well we played at the end of the season) it would be worth it to me.

But as it has been said I doubt JR has the stones to make that trade even 4 a 2nd.

I don't think that adding a WR will get this team to the SB. Much less Marshall.

Not only will we have to give up a 2nd (cheap labor), but we would have to sign him to a long term extension (top 5 WR money). And we already have a top 5 WR in terms of money now.

Not gonna happen.

It would take our O to a new level methinks. Too many weapons for a D to cover someone is bound to be killing them. It would allow Smith to move into the slot and become the "#2" receiver like he wants. I think it would be him that would benefit from this the most. I think Smith would make Welker look like his b*tch.

Get him.

Extend him with a contract that will pay him handsome bonuses if he performs on and off the field. Basically state that any civil troubles nullify any bonus he would make otherwise.

Money talks.

And if its a crime that was really severe go after previously paid money.

At some point we're going to need two actual wide receivers. We've been trying to draft one to replace Moose since 2004 with absolutely zero results. As we seem to be completely unable to draft that position, FA is pretty much the only outlet left.

I mean, I enjoy grinding Steve Smith's career into the ground as much as the next guy, but he really, REALLY could use some actual talent next to him.

Golly I wonder why there isn't any interest in an obviously talented receiver.

Well, apparently the GM's on this board know more about Marshall and his character than the GM's in the NFL.

What you also have to realize is that there is really no team in the NFL right now that needs WR help. That is why it has been so hard for Denver to move him. I mean the Jets, Dolphins, Seahawks, Bears, Jaguars, Bucaneers, Chiefs, and Raiders don't need any type of WR help at all. Pretty much it is just the Panthers that need a WR.

Boy, I sure wish that Hurney would get off his lazy ass and make an offer on a malcontent, immature, WR that has a lot of talent. He is a great locker room influence for all of the young players we have now. Reminds me of a young TO and who wouldn't want a player like that on a young team?

What makes you think he'll be a good guy? He's going to a run first offence, were the first option is Smith, dealing with another attidue guy in Smith. And has a promising but still very much up in the air qb with Moore.

There very well could be games were he doesnt get a catch at all.

Yeah, we should just draft Smith some help.

No I don't see anyone. Although there have been a few surprises in the last few drafts only Calvin Johnson has lived up to the hype he had going into the draft. Sometimes you have to be willing to take chances and Marshall should really be looked at. And it's not like both Smith and Marshall couldn't each have 1000 yards each. Moose was 50-60 yards away from 1000 two years ago with Delhomme. Add clauses to his contract to keep him in line and we would have both the best RB duo in the league and the Best WR duo as well. Matt Moores' transition would be alot easier to.
