NHL commissioner Gary Bettman will be in Raleigh, N.C., on Thursday to announce the 2010-11 NHL All-Star Game is being awarded to the Carolina Hurricanes, a source told ESPN.com.

The NHL issued a news release Wednesday saying Bettman would be joined for an announcement by Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos, general manager Jim Rutherford and captain Eric Staal.

There was no All-Star Game this season because of the Vancouver Olympics.

I hope this motivates all the hurricanes players to come out strong next year and make the all-star game. This might be the motivation Staal needs to be great all the time at least for half a season.

Right now it seems the only way to guarantee tickets is to buy season tickets for next year

      Never been. Going to a concert there Thursday night. Decent tailgating opportunities in the parking area or no? I see people are going to the beer hall to grab a beer to get their parking validated. Seems like a good plan to me. I'd like to smoke a brisket and do a decent spread of food but I just don't know if the parking setup allows for it.
