Hi from Arizona. Much respect to the Panthers and here's to an entertaining and competitive game this Saturday.

As for the thread...I think the Cardinal's will play you guys defensively much like we played Atlanta. What I'm worried about is that Williams/Stewart is better than Turner/Norwood and Smith is better than White at WR. Smith has killed us in every last game I can remember him playing against us.

However, the difference in the Cardinal's backfield since you guys saw us last is a little ol rookie named DRC. His emergence has been impressive...from learning from the bench to 3rd CB to 2nd to #1. He did exactly what was asked of him against Roddy White on Saturday, containing him to short gainers and beating him on long passes. He had 10 tackles, 3 passes defended, and an incredible INT. Last time we faced you we had Green and Hood covering Smith...this time it will be this kid who is as fast as Smith, is taller than Smith, has an attitude similar to Smith's, has freakish ball skills and hands like Smith...it's gonna be fun to watch.

I hope you guys do try to air it out. We focused on stopping the run, and limited Turner to 40-some yards in the first half and ZERO in the second. When Atlanta tried to pass, we sacked em, got a safety, should of had another safety, hurried em and forced two INT's.

I know the Cards had a terrible ending to the regular season, but they had "nothing to play for" the last 4 weeks (shouldn't have been an excuse, I agree). It depends on which Cardinals show up...if it's the team the played Atlanta, it will be a fair fight.

I wish you guys well, your my favorite team still in it other than my Cards, and hopefully both teams continue in success and we face you guys much more in future playoffs.

Just another reason why AZ fans are so beloved on here. Classy, semi homerish, but overall - INTELLIGENT. We're not used to that in the NFC South, other than a few Bucs fans. Anyways. Just as Ryan is a rookie so is your "DRC." Smith is an entirely diff. receiver than White and those two can't be compared. Smitty will get over 100 and probably close to 200 if it becomes a shoot out.

Charles Godfrey has been great for us...but he's STILL a rookie and this is the playoffs. I won't toot his horn just yet. I advise all AZ fans to treat "DRC" the same way.

You wish.

Well I admit that may have been a bit ambitious, but watch DRC's game film, check his run times...believe me he'll be a lot more trouble for Smith than any CB we've ever had cover him. I expect the Cardinals will cover him well with a combination of DRC and Rolle or A Dub drifting his way at safety all game long. We'll stack the line on the run like we did against Atlanta. It will be up to Jake to find other receivers on a whole lot of plays.

Oh, and I'd rather have 3 1000 yard receivers (hopefully Boldin plays) than just Steve Smith to worry about at WR. I would never trade Fitz for Smith. (and this is from a guy who drafts Smith almost yearly in my FF league).

Offensively, this game will be your RB's and Steve Smith vs. our aeriel attack. We actually have 5 dangerous WR's...Early Doucet being our 5th (expected to go in 1st round by many in this years draft and a steal for us, in the exact mold of Boldin). Edge has rested all year and has run like I've never seen him run as a Cardinal the last 2 games (100+ yards on 16 carries game 17, 5 ypc in the Wildcard game). I'm completely not worried about our offense vs. yours.

Where I'm concerned is on defense. Cardinals are on or off every week on D. When on, they cause havoc and turnovers. When off, we make any QB look like a Hall of Famer.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
