Ted Ginn Write up per CincyJungle

3rd or 4th best returner based on what exactly? Last year was the first year Ginn finished in the top 20 in Yards per Return...at # 13 (Cribbs finished 3rd)

He's scored 2 KOR TD's in his career (both in the same game). In the same time period, Cribbs scored 6. The highest Ginn return avg was 24.9 y/rt. The lowest Cribbs ever averaged was 24.3 y/rt (his highest being an eye popping 30.7 y/rt)

So please. Enlighten us picky ones how Ginn is clearly the 3rd or 4th best returner in the league.

Or are you referring to his amazing 5.6 y/rt on punts?

you get pie for doing research. thanks for putting it in perspective. I'm officially off the ginn bandwagon.

I will admit I didn't check on the stats before I said that (pulled that outta my a$$) but by your own admission he returned two for TDs in one game. That in and of itself should speak volumes as to his return ability. Ginn also is the more productive receiver by any definition (YPC, TDs, Rec, etc). He is not the consistent threat that Hester or Cribbs brought but he does have the ability.

Considering the fact that we are talking about a 5th or 6th round pick wouldn't you be happy to get solely his ability as a returner in the rookie you drafted. Even if thats all he was.

Picky is overvaluing picks to the point that a Super Bowl mvp isn't worth a 5th to some people (even with his character issue the possible benfits far outwiegh the risks). 5th round picks bust left and right. You take a risk either way. I look at it as a bird in the had is worth two in the bush. You know what your getting from Holmes and Ginn.

Not when you look at his other 50 returns where he only averaged 21.9 yds/rt. That would be the exact same average our own Kenny Moore had last year. I'm not even going to start on Teddy's godawful hands.

There's a reason why every Dolphin fan can't wait to see him gone.

ok let me speak up here. Ginn is such a great kick returner? ha.

hes fast. he has good moves. like someone stated, he only has 2 tds. both last year. both in one game. heres a fun fact for everyone....he wasnt our starting kick returner in the begining of the year. he was beat out by PATRICK COBBS.......ya. our 3rd string running back. Cobbs tore his acl, so ginn basically got the position by default. for every good return he has, he has 4 horrible ones, he falls to the ground to avoid contact, he runs straight for the sideline. He is fast, but he isnt playing northwestern anymore.....he tries to outrun nfl guys...and it doesnt work. hes a complete bust, a gigantic pussy, no hands, falls to the ground, and runs for the sideline instead of picking up a first down. This guy is not worth the vet minimum, let alone 1 million.

If he was a "top 3" kick returner, why would we let him go?!?!?!? we arent exactly slammed with offensive weapons, and we arent exactly 12-4 with room to move.

we were 7-9. ginn would be nice to have if he was as good as a weapon as some of you are making him out to be. if we trade him for peanuts......why do you think he'd be good for you?

Someone mentioned opening up routes for steve smith. ummm wouldnt we like to do that with newly acquired brandon marshall? no. we are trying to trade him. Ginn a 9th overall pick was sitting behind 2 undrafted free agents (bess, camarillo) and 4th round pick (brian hartline) on our depth chart.

and i kid you not, there were times when we had our 2nd string tight end JOEY HAYNOS spread out wide at receiver while ginn was wearing a baseball hat on the sidelines.

Ginn sucks. Hope you dont get him, pray he isnt a panther in the future. or else you are up for a HUGE disapointment.

the guy had a 1.3 yard after catch average last year. thats abysmal.

And to put Cribbs in perspective, the Browns won 5 games last year. Cribbs returning and wildcat running was the difference in them winning 3 of those (2 of those 3 he was named AFC Special Teams player of the week). 60% of the Browns wins were direct results of Josh Cribbs.

He was the only thing they really had last year (with Harrison making a good showing as well)

to be fair ginn has done a million more things as a WR than cribbs. cribbs is more one dimensional than ginn. which is saying alot.

i thing i noticed is in that vid dj didnt get much seperation then but he has excellent hands, i dont think he is ever going to burn anyone in this league or get a lot of seperation from nfl corners that are faster than him. his problem is being more physical at the line of scrimmage. he can out muscle most dbs in the nfl. he is 6' 4" 220. if he ran a 4.4 or 4.5 he would have been a top pick.
