For those pushing for defensive lineman early.

In 2007 Ron Meeks led the Colts defense comprised of several journeymen and late draft picks to a top defense. The Back seven and Freeney, Mathis, Brock and Ed Johnson were the big time players.

Defensive Linemen

We are MORE talented than that group. We find a Mathis type DE in the 3rd and maybe even sign Raheem Brock and we are set. Too many folks want the Vikings Dline. Stars and High picks all around. The 2010 Panther's defense will be fun to watch and exceed expectations.

I appreciate the research, but couldn't you have just put this in the 20 other threads you have out about why the Panthers shouldn't draft a defensive lineman with their first pick?

We get it. Golden Tate, first pick. Damn the cost, trade the draft away if needs be.

Fixed.

    • There probably isn’t an orthopedic surgery that has had more improvement in technique and outcomes over the last two decades than the acl repair. Because of its importance in pro sports and the sheer number that surgeons do there have been lots of opportunities to practice 1. Better techniques - arthroscopic v open surgery means people heal faster  2. More training - all sports med surgeons have tons of experience doing them 3. better imaging - later generations of mri are more sensitive  4. better therapy - PTs have gotten better at rehabbing them and the theories of rehab have improved a lot. No idea about brooks in particular tho, but I’d describe that overall situation as “not great”
    • If Freeling or either of the Utah OTs dropped to 19 I'd be more than happy honestly. Our OT situation isn't great with an aging Moton at RT and a mess of a situation at LT if Walker goes down at any point in time.  What I'm expecting the Panthers to do is probably draft another weapon like Sadiq or KC Conception. That's been their track record in drafting R1 thus far. None of the defensive talent projected to be around 19 stands out to me. Unless they just want to draft a LB early (Rodriguez,  CJ Allen, Anthony Hill, Jake Gollday).
