Evans started every single the past 4 seasons for the Saints and the Saints finding him as a late round gem in the 4th round of the 2006 draft is a big reason for the team's success since the 2006 season.

He received the richest deal given to a guard, averaging $8.1 million per year.

Smart move by the Saints. Looks like people are figuring out loopholes to the restrictions. Let's see if JR opens the pockets for Kalil.

Its not if or of not he is willing to open his pockets. Its about doing it the right way. IMO the right way is NOT those MONSTER signing bonuses the Niners and Saints are throwing around.

I hope we wait for a new CBA and then sign Kalil and others. I know its like playing chikcken but this is the right thing to do.

The Saints aren't throwing around money. Evans was a 4th round pick in 06 still playing on a rookie contract even when he reached the All-Pro level. You have to play your best players. Not bad for a guy out of Bloomsburg

There is no right way. There is just signing them to a mutual agreement or not signing them. Everything doesn't have to be guaranteed nor does it have to be a signing bonus. Roster bonuses aren't guaranteed and don't count against the 30% rule. They become a signing bonus when executed.

If we wait until there is a new CBa we will have a bunch of high priced guys we need to sign. I doubt richardson is going to spend 100 million of his money on signing bonuses but that is what it will cost at a minimum. By waiting you can guarantee that many of the guys like Davis, Kalil, and Moore won't be here next year.

I find it hillarious some (not all) of you bash another organizations handling of contracts. Like the Panthers know the best way of when to reward players.

Can we just agree on one thing? The Taints can lick the back side of my sack.

yup lol

Bears signing Peppers to that contract was dumb

Saints signing one of the best guards in the game to a long term contract(he's only 26, by the way) is smart.

You don't make your best players wait for a contract, that's a real good way to piss them off.

Quit living in the past. That was last year.

Lame. But I will play your game. Who do the experts give better odds to win the SB THIS year? Saints or Panthers? Yeah that is what I thought. Not trying to pick a fight tonight but just telling it like it is. Folks are bashing another organization for signing / rewarding their talent. The Panthers have a piss poor record of knowing how to walk that tight rope so I don't get the bashing. It simply doesnt work.

    • We won 5 with the worst defense in the history of defenses.  I think free agency and our draft puts us over 6.5.
    • Leaning towards just ordering this tonight, but now I have no idea on size. Has anyone bought a bunch of jerseys in the last few years and can convey how the Game vs Limited vs Reebok versions all fit? These are both Mediums... The white one here is a Reebok one from 2010, and was when they had the "+2 length" on the tag and it was the version with the stitched numbers instead of iron on... the blue one is from 2022 and is the F.U.S.E Limited version also with stitched stuff, not the "game jersey" with the ironed on numbers/letters that they have the T-Mac jerseys in. The old one fits me fine, the blue one was always a tad snug on me, particularly in the shoulders I'm leaning going with a Large based on the CMC, but for all I know, that is made with a tighter cut due to the higher "limited" level and the "game" ones they have for T-Mac are cut more like a T-Shirt and thus will fit more like the old white one I have here, not sure. (and yes, I already tried going to a sporting goods store here to hopefully try on a Lions jersey to see, but they don't have any right now)
    • I think there's a ton of potential in that WR room. But they really are unproven right now. Hopefully they live up to the hype.
