Are Falcon Fans really high on Dunta Robinson?

On March 5, 2010 Robinson signed a six-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons worth $57 million with $22.5 million in guaranteed money. According to NFL.com journalist Steve Wyche, it is the 2nd highest contract for a corner back in NFL history (only behind Nnamdi Asomugha).

This for a guy going into his seventh year in the NFL and had no interceptions last year, and has had no more than two interceptions in any season since his rookie year in 2004.

I watched some Houston games last year, and pretty much everytime I saw Dunta playing he was just getting burned, and pretty badly, especially in that Patriots game where I think Houston actually won. A lot of analysts say this guy and Sean Witherspoon are going to make Atlanta's defense different this year but I just don't see it. Houston's DBs are all pretty horrible if, Dunta had any talent I would think Houston would've tried to resign the guy.

I hate the Falcons but I'm a realist. I was a huge Matt Ryan fan when he was in college and I think he will have a better year this year. The Turner signing was huge even though Atlanta's idiot coaches should not have kept trying to play the guy when he was hurt last year. The possibility of Harry Douglas being healthy this year scares the hell outta me. Snelling has impressed me.

The Falcons have the potential to have a great offense next year but their defense isn't scaring me at all. I think its just one of those bandwagon picks to suprise people by anaylsts who arn't really looking at the actual team.

Just to clarify, I'm definitely not a Falcons fan but I live in Atlanta and have some good connections within the organization. The team is definitely high on Dunta. They are really high on Brent Grimes - kid has big time potential.

With regards to Harry Douglas - yeah, that was a big blow for them last year. They have high hopes for him and his impact on their offense.

Dunta really under performed last year. Gave up 3 TDs and only had 7 PDs, also missed 10 tackles with only 15 defensive stops. His 208 season was not much better.

He had about 5 very good games (SL, Jax, Buf, Oak, Ten), the rest teams routinely completed over 75% of their passes against him and he gave up a whopping 180 yards after the catch.

However I think it's difficult to analyse one CB going from one team to another as there are so many reasons they can be exposed.

So they definitely paid him on reputation rather than production, but he could well be a quality addition for them.

A lot of people here were really high on Robinson, until a division rival signed him...

...and now he's garbage.

Those people don't know football or didn't look up his stats. Robinson has had a good dline in front of him and been in a division that likes too pass the ball. Everybody thinks he is a shutdown CB but Gamble and Marshall have better # then him. The falcon are going too be really let down when he gets burned by Brees and Moore.

Eh I think that Robinson > Marshall and Robinson = Gamble.

Actually Marshall in his 1st season starting (which was last year) had 4int's and 88 tackles and 1 sack I think.

Marshall maybe the best out of the 3 all around. He is a better tackler then both Gamble and Robinson. He's faster then both and more aggressive.
