Thomas Davis should not be placed on IR

He is a star player. I think any team would do what they can to avoid putting him on ir. I agree with not messing up the chemisty of the defense if its playing well. Still, to get him back healthy, would be another quality lb that can step in and play should we lose another lb.

Thats true. If we could get him back and he was 100% it is a no-brainer. Of course we are better with him versus without him. I just wouldn't risk re-injury a third time by rushing him back. If I were being conservative before, I would be extremely cautious going forward. Unless I had to bring him in due to injury, I would let him have as long as possible to completely rehab. If we are going to be signing him long-term, then we need to think down the road moreso than just this year, IMO.

I'd be up for seeing how it goes and possibly letting him return if we make the playoffs. Other than that he needs to be healing.

Yep...you lose nothing by putting him on the PUP list. If he's good to go...great. If not...IR at that time.

He should be out all year. No need to bring him back mid-season (or later).
