Coaching Succession

After the Siefert experience vs. the experiences with Capers and Fox, I would imagine Jerry Richardson will stick with hiring defensive coaches as HC's... so I could see either Meeks or Baker taking over as the next head coach as the most like scenario of all the "hire from within" scenarios.

I would think Meeks would be the favorite simply based on experience. Baker is a motivator, but that doesn't mean he's ready to be a HC at this point in his career.

all of our hires have been defensive coaches. Besides the idea that Seifert wasn't an offensive coach, why would a hire made over a decade ago force Richardson's hand in what he'd hire? You would still prefer an owner to make the best hire, not just the one that worked last time. Plus, I'd certainly suggest Seifert and Capers both failed, but Seifert left it in better care than he received it. Capers on the other hand took a playoff contender, screwed his own defense beyond recognition, botched his QB situation, and traded off multiple first round picks for a marginal DT that didn't fit his defense or stop the run.
