BOA is already pretty darn proud of the usual brand name domestics they sell for $8 per large. Problem with the niche breweries is they want to make all their money back in one season and they'll probably want about $10 or $11 per pour.

That's the only thing I'm worried about.

The stadium has always had microbrews, just not local microbrews. Great news indeed.

I believe that, I'm just saying the beer's been out for some time, and the article said that the one in the tanks at RJ Rockers is their first batch. So someone else had to brew the other batch(es) of Maelstrom that have been in South Carolina already.

What I think it meant was that it was the first batch for Rockers to brew, not the actual "first" batch.

Mmmmm, beer. I love some micros. Even a so-so micro is WAAAAY better than a good macro-domestic. Just got back off vacation and went to a brewhouse. Their worst offering was probably a 6 (1-10 scale) which is better than ANY Budweiser product.

Exactly. And I remember coorectly they were 8 bucks for a 20 oz glass. Not a great price but better than some of the domestics where it tastes like the brewmaster took a whizz in the batch.

$8 for 20 oz. really isn't that bad, considering the venue. I'd gladly pay $8 for 20 oz. of a Maelstrom IPA at a game.

I think they were trying to stay in the Charlotte area with OMB, and then Skull Coast is right next door in Fort Mill, SC (even though they are contract-brewed in Spartanburg).

Red Oak's okay. I will concede that they would probably appeal to more non-craft fans at football games than OMB or Skull Coast.

Quick update: We knew that Skull Coast's Maelstrom would be available, but they're also debuting their new Doubloon Double Pale Ale at the game this Saturday. Only $7.50 a beer, which is really pretty decent when compared with prices for the other beers. The Maelstrom IPA is 7%, and the Doubloon is 8.5%.
