Please excuse the small portion of our fanbase who are calling for your head. How quickly we forget the 5 times this season you lead our team down the field while trailing in the 4th quarter for a come behind win (could have been 6 if it wasnt for a little gust of wind). Sure, Smitty made some amazing catches, but you put the ball where only he could get it. You did what you had to to win. If we dont win those games, were a 7-9 team, and we dont have this playoff game to begin with.

In fact since you took over as the starter youve lead us to the playoffs 3 out of the 4 years you've managed to stay healthy and play the entire year. So we have faith you can lead us back.

Yea you had a bad game, and now were saying you not good enough to win a super bowl. I guess we forgot your 5-3 all time in the playoffs, winning 4 of those games as underdogs. Thats a better win % in the playoffs than all bet 3 active NFL QBs. No you dont have the strongest arm in the league, but Peyton Manning and his $99 million arm has gone one and done 6 times in his carrer and is below .500 when it counts.

And sorry we forget the 2007 season with our 4-headed monster at QB, where we all realized how valuable you are to this team. We promise to watch some highlights of David Carr throwing footballs to people wearing various colored jerseys, so we remember how we look when youre not around.

I think I heard you were too old to play football. That other QB wearing the red jersey last night, hes got 3.5 years on you, and he looked pretty effective, so id say you got another couple years left in you.

So just pay no attention to the people mouthing off about you needing to be out of Carolina. Were all a little depressed and sick to our stomachs, its been a rough last 18 hours, and you cant expect anyone to be very positive right now. We'll see you next year Jake.

Sincerely,

Carolina Panther Fans

I wouldnt use four headed monster as a metaphor, ususally that refers to a teams that have 2 or more badass players , like when people use to call fred taylor and MJD a two headed monster... I say our Quarterback situation last year as more like a retarded quartet .

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
