Id recommend that u eat at Morgan's restaurant, I drove to Charlotte for the taste of the panthers and a tattoo and ate at cheeze mo's. The atmosphere is great and the food is good also. Plus there's a poo load of flat screens around the restaurant so would be a great place to watch late games.

Unfortunatley Cheeze Mo's closed down a few months ago...

wild wings or hooters

I go to BWW here all the time, and hooters food sucks, I want to go to a local place since I'm only going for the weekend, maybe try 2 places, one for dinner Saturday and one Sunday for the college games and the NFL late games.

Stay right outside of Charlotte in Mathews, then take the 10 minute drive to the stadium. Parking should cost you around $20.00 close to the tailgate site. I've been traveling to the games for several years. I'll be at the Cincy game also. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, but I'm not renting a car and I'd rather just walk around then pay for a cab.

Anyone?

Looking to book my hotel in the next few days, anyone got some ideas for me?

When I go down for a game, I usually try to stay at the Holiday Inn. A few times I've tried to catch a Bobcats game on a Saturday night, and the hotel is right around the corner from that. The Marriott is also nice. There are actually a few nice places in the city.

You go a tad bit off the beaten path... not so much! :D Actually, for the Miami game last year, a friend of mine really wanted to get the hotel since I had paid for the tickets. He ended up booking us a room at the Days Inn. I'd rather have slept in my car!!! It was that shady...

I hightailed it out of there... asap!! :driving:

Yes! There are many great vegetarian restaurants in the Charlotte area. However, many of these restaurants can be very snobby and stuck up. Many of them base who gets seated purely upon physical appearance. If you posted pics of your girlfriend then maybe we could point you in the right direction.

Nicely done, nicely done.

Most of the food, I've tried, in Charlotte isn't much to write home about! There is plenty of chains like Applebee's, TGI Fridays, Hooters, etc, if you want the same junk you can get in any town, nothing unique, nothing special.

I did stumble across this restaurant next door to Holiday Inn once. I can't remember it. It was soul food, sort of. A nice change.

There a few cool bars though. They do know how to drink well! :D

I'm going to the 49ers game (which will be the first Panthers game I see in person!) with my girlfriend and would appreciate same kind of information. We'll be landing on Saturday and leaving on Monday so we'll have some time to spend. There is plenty of information in wikitravel but I don't know how dated the information is there. Also, my girlfriend is a vegetarian. Are the restaurants generally vegetarian-friendly there?

I'm a vegetarian myself. Been to a few football games in Charlotte.. they are always a planned adventure. I remember stopping at Arby's on the way down once and the lady at the counter was shocked that I wanted a salad with no meat on it! haha

Normally I go with a bunch of friends to games, none of which are vegetarians themselves. I try not to be difficult and just go with the flow and find myself stuck at Hooters, ordering cheese sticks. Needless to stay, the health kick goes out the window those weekends! :)

Obviously in a sports bar, anywhere, you're limited. As far as good restaurants? No clue. ZiZi's Take Out sounds interesting. Luna's Living Kitchen too. Not sure if either are in the city, where I usually stay, or outside.

A good golden rule of thumb with any town is, get near a college campus. With most college campuses, come vegans and vegan-like restaurants. I live in Richmond myself, near VCU and there are a TON of great vegetarian restaurants because of it. I go 15 minutes west, to the suburbs -- nothing but chain restaurants and garbage. I even took a trip to West Virginia a few weeks back and went through Lewisburg, West Virginia and found a place called "The Wild Bean". It was outstanding. I figured, West Virginia-- I'd starve all weekend. I was wrong. :)
