Apparently RB Kolby Smith didn't do much to impress the Denver Broncos during his audition as the team's lead back this week.

Denver waived Smith on Wednesday and signed RB LenDale White.

The Broncos' backfield became a mess early in training camp when Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter were both injured Sunday. Moreno's bum hamstring will likely keep him out several weeks. Buckhalter hurt his back, though he should return next week and will likely be the first-team tailback as long as Moreno is out.

The Broncos are White's third team in less than four months. The Titans traded him to the Seahawks during April's draft, but Seattle cut him a month later. He will miss the first four games of the 2010 season for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

White was a major contributor early in his career with Tennessee, rushing for 1,110 yards in 2007 and running for 22 TDs over the 2007-08 seasons. However Chris Johnson's ascension reduced White to a bit player by 2009.

    • My point exactly. Does that mean they have a poor offense? Of course not. That is why cherry picking stats without context rarely results in an accurate and fair assessment.
    • Lotta football to go, and a lot of things can change.  Team health makes a huge difference down the road.  The big thing is and will be getting a rhythm.  2015 and 2013 are great examples.  That said, while we have a schedule, we dont really know who we're gonna play past a few weeks from now and by that I mean, like, end of october we're scheduled to play The Buffalo Bills...but between now and then, what if theres an injury to Josh Allen or just suffer a rash of injuries to any position group really.  Lots can change honestly and after 3 weeks, we're healthier than we were last year after week 3 with our only serious injuries to Hunt and Corbett (who...sorry the guy got injured, but Mays continues to outplay him).  the other injuries are short term return situations with JT Sanders, XL, and Coker.
    • I get a lot more than you. Scheme dictates average yards per play for example. If you run a lot like Philly your average yards per play will go down versus a team that passes all the time. And if you only play 3 games  then one outlier like Jacksonville holds more weight than it should. Plus yards per play doesn't correlate to wins for example versus effectiveness in the red zone. So yeah I get it and know that stats like yards per game much like yards per play have little correlation with wins and loses and the final score is the only thing that matters at the end of the day not some BS cherry picked stat.
