Rex Ryan said it best:

" Last year we were under the radar and thats a great place to be...... F#CK THAT! The best place to be is when expectations are high! Get used to it because its always going to be that way! Now we got to prove everyone right! We know we're better than you we dont give a damn if you know it or not. We dont give a damn if you give us your best game or not we're going to beat the hell out of you!"

God I love this man! No wonder the panthers have been so inconsistent. They are too afraid to want to be good. They only wanna fly under the radar when no one expects anything then hide like pussies when expectations are high. Martty Hurneys interview on WFNZ last week just made me sick to my stomach. "we dont want to be an organization that gets attention. We want to fly under the radar blah blah blah blah". F#CK that! This team needs a leader like Rex Ryan that isnt afraid of high expectations. One that isnt afraid of national attention. One that will wash away the p#ssy mindset that John Fox and Marty Hurney have poisoned this team with. Lets keep our fingers crossed that we can find the next Rex Ryan next year after Fox is gone.

Everyone has a different way to approach the game. Ryan looks great saying that stuff because they overachieved last year. If they underachieve this year I don't think he'd be singing that tune. He is the same coach that said something like they didn't have a snowball's chance in hell to make the playoffs...then when they did make the playoffs he proclaimed them the favorites. So...His "we are the champion" attitude gets lost during the season when they are struggling.

Its not just the jets. The patriots considered last year a complete failure after being humiliated in the first round of the playoffs. I was listening to Falcons camp yesturday on SIRIUS and the whole organization considered last year a failure even though they went 9-7. Martty Hurney is still talking about how they went 12-4 two years ago as if they won the super bowl. More proof that the panthers have had a firm commitment to mediocrity under Fox/Hurney.

Come on Bobby, Ryan is an idiot that had no idea that he was in contention for making the playoffs, and then proceeded to cry about how much he loved his team.

He should have considered himself fortunate to have the ability to be confident in making the playoffs again within that tough division.

If he fails to make the playoffs he cannot use this strategy again, He should take lessons or learn from the mistakes of his daddy, Buddy.

They went to the AFC title game with a rookie QB. That in itself is an accomplishment but Rex Ryan considers it a failure because they didnt win the SB. Thats exactly the kind of mindset the panthers need.

You know damn well Rex Ryan would be the best HC in panther history if he was here.

Eh, let's see Rex Ryan be a HC for more than a season before we crown him the god of NFL.

Besides, the way that Fox and Hurney address the media has no bearing on what goes on in the locker room. Do you honestly think anyone in the organization is happy about going 8-8? Do you really think Jon Beason and Steve Smith aren't willing to do whatever it takes to win a championship? This is the NFL, no one is content with mediocrity. Just because they don't go mouthing off in the press doesn't mean they aren't committed to winning.

Yes, I actually beleive the organization is happy with being mediocre as long as they produce a winning season once in awhile. Thats been proven when they keep going on and on about how Fox has never had a double digit loss season as if thats some sort of accomplishment.

    • Seems to me that the Bucs have less fight in them now than they had in week 16. The real test is going to be if the Panthers can sustain focus and discipline throughout. With the Bucs being at home, maybe that gives them a little boost of confidence and energy.  Wouldn’t it be something if for ONCE the Panthers came out and dominated from the opening snap and just took this shook Bucs team to task?  If the Panthers see-saw form follows, we are in line for the W. Hard to say we have momentum but we do have a pretty clear pattern of following a loss with a win.  I’m going to say 24-16 Panthers!!
    • When Parcell’s said Bryce better “walk on water”…..the implied concern wasn’t that the tiny QB could survive being hit.  It was acknowledging he would have to be extremely special to overcome the handicaps he would face at this level.  Which he isn’t and can’t.  which isn’t just being hit.  It’s being able to play in an NFL pocket and make NFL throws from it….and that ultimately is Bryce’s problem.  He doesn’t play well from a NFL pocket and can’t make all the throws as needed.  He can’t see as others can.  Which impacts the throws he does and doesn’t take.  It also impacts him bailing and killing plays and turning them into scrambles/dead plays
    • 9:30 kick off here in Scotland, which is better than the 01:20 early hours of Monday that I feared. Will definitely be watching, but probably wouldn't if it had been 0120 as I need to be up for work at 05:45. Falcons Saints is 6pm on the Sunday so will watch that too if it becomes relevant
