Flame away, I got the flame retardant suit on anyways.... There has been a lot of knob slobbering about keeping the guy, I just came to the conclusion that he is not worth $1 mil a sack.... He is 29 years old so his window of top tier play is 2-3 years MAX..... I would love for this franchise to finally adapt to the methods that successful franchises have (Patriots, Steelers, Eagles) and let talent walk when the cost outweighs the benefit.... I know we won't find anyone of his caliber to replace but you build through the draft..... the time to extend Peppers was 2-3 years ago, now your going to break the bank for a DE who has more better days behind him then good days ahead of him.

No... Steve Smith is not up for a contract extension, he is in the midst of a contract that is VERY CAP FRIENDLY for an ELITE WR.... We are getting a deal with his contract.... It is quite clear that Peppers will command the salary of the highest paid DE of all time, 3 years ago at 26 I would have given it to him, at 29 I don't think it is the best investment to put that kind of money on a guy who has 2-3 years of top play left in him.... He is not a technique DE like Strahan so as age gets to him and his explosiveness tails off, we will be stuck with a guy who has crippled our cap and about as effective as an aged Simeon Rice.
