We're still #1....

I know it's preseason but it gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside to see the panthers #1 at something.

We're 1st in total defense, yards per play, yards per pass, yards per rush, and sacks.

2nd in scoring defense, forced fumbles.

It is preseason so these stats don't mean a ton. But it is encouraging. I doubt we fall outside of the top 10 this season.

"Do we know there's bigger things we need to do? Yeah. There's plays we need to make and are going to be made, but I was happy with the way things went tonight."

This is what Moore said after the game. Happy with the fact you haven't thrown ONE td in three preseason games??? Not ONE offensive td?? Come on Matt, we're all rooting for ya here.....but you have to make it happen.

With that being said, the defense has looked incredible so far. I enjoy watching them on the field almost as much as I enjoy the offense on the field. But when our special teams is scoring more than our o, it might be time try something new.

I agree that stats don't tell the whole story. But, the 2009 Vikings lead the league in sacks last year with 48. That's 3 per game. To lead the league. I like our stat that compares to that this preseason. Even though, it's only a stat.

Against the 1s we have 8 sacks. Those 8 sacks came in around 6 quarters. so we have about 16 sacks in 3 games or roughly 5 sacks per game.

Still very high as i doubt we get 80 sacks a year but it's still impressive.

Yea true. I guess im stressing that we better be glad our defense is playing as good as it is, because at the present time, we can't count on the other units to produce. And before you say it, i know it's preseason...lol.

You know how you know that these stats are irrelevant?? The Bills are top 5 for rushing offense and the Jags are 3rd for passing offense.

But regardless, it's good to see us at the top.

I don't think they are totally irrelevant. I've been going on and on about how there is some correlation in preseason production to the regular season.

If we're beasting this hard then I seriously doubt it's a crapshoot as to where our defense will be this season, we're probably top 10. It can't be a total fluke.
