What happened to Ken Lucas?

Back in '05, we were talking about how he was arguably the best corner in the league and was completely screwed out of a Pro Bowl spot. He had receivers on lockdown that year.

Now he's the Keary Colbert of cornerbacks. The David Carr of defenders. Even worse than Jason David.

What do you think happened? To be honest, the '06 and '07 seasons are repressed in my memories, so I don't remember how he played then. But I know that he was playing at least decently earlier this season.

But yet Chris Gamble has really really improved. He's had the same coaches that Lucas and Marshall have. How do you all explain that?

That style of play fits Gamble better than Lucas. Ideally we would have Gamble hang back and Lucas play up on the receiver, but that obviously didn't happen.

I would beg to differ on that point.. I think Gamble did a lot of improving on his own... Like it was mentioned, our scheme benefits Gamble more, in that he can sit back and watch the play develop more...

remember when we were so happy about tim lewis because the Panthers hadn't had a dpi yet in the season?

why didn't any of us think that was because no corner was ever within five yards of a receiver before they made the catch?

    • You can still trade the first round pick, it goes with the original conditions set forth in the sign and trade.  The team that acquires the pick agrees to those terms and the pick is still dependent on where the Canes and Stars finish.
    • I saw it and was very impressed. XL will step up in the #2 role.  He is perfect for that role.  I am just so excited about our WR corps, I wake up in the middle of the night screaming, "Just throw the ball!!!"  I had no idea my wife kept a bowling ball on her side of the bed for occasions such as that.
    • The shoes.  Brand new white shoes.  I am sure that went through his mind...Save the shoes or the four wheeler.  Forget the friend--you need smarter friends.
