I actually feel better now

It really sucks to start the season 0-2 and to lose to the bucs at home. Now that Matt got his chance and blew it, nobody can blame Fox for going with Jimmy this year. Jimmy Clausens knowledge of the game and our offense in particular is much more advanced than that of an average rookie. Jimmy seems extremely cool under pressure and almost looks like embraces it. He was once projected as a first round pick and luckily fell to us in the draft. His football i.q. and natural talent is far superior to any qb to ever be on our roster.

Of course the naysayers are gonna say its too early to like him, but time will tell and luckily for us rather you realize it or not, that time is now(unless fox is dumber than i already think he is and puts Moore back in).

The reason why you should feel better is that Jimmy deserves the rookie breaks that Matt got the past few seasons. He automatically resets the bar and gives the fans something to cheer for when there is progress. With Moore, there is no excuse to not execute. He's got the experience and the time in the system. With Clausen when he makes a mistake we will see it as a learning opportunity and feel better about the future.

You should have seen the smile on my face when I watched Matt shake Jimmy's hand on the sideline. It is not a good feeling when your team gets down by 14 points and the game is over at halftime because YOU KNOW that the QB you got is not going comeback and win us the game.

I still think Fox jumped the gun. Moore had 8 decent starts to his career. Started week 1 poorly. Then got pulled today down by 13 when a large reason Carolina was down was defensive errors. Also, the lack of an average NFL WR to play #2 for us was glaring today. LaFell and Gettis ain't it....not this young in their careers. The play call on the Moore pick was horrid...it lumped all WRs together and everyone was coming off there WRs to attack Smith. That imo goes on the lack of talet at WR b/c if the defenders respect the other talent the other defender isn't so quick to leave his assignment. It also would have been nice if Gettis didn't just run the 2nd half of his deep route....he didn't turn on the speed until realized he was being asked to be part of the play

    • If we don't go OT, we will regret it.  What bothers me?  Are we going to get a starting-caliber OT at 19?  I think the draft is solid at OT, and the more I read up and watch video, the more I watch Lomu, the more I want him.   I see Freeling as a RT who needs some work in run blocking (since we need to run first, maybe not a good fit) and I see Proctor ending up as a Guard.  After Lomu (assuming Mouigia and fanu are gone), I think we wait until round 2.  In round 2, there are about 3-4 I like (Zuhn--good pass blocker and VERY underrated right now; Tiernan is a very good pass blocker as is Miller from Clemson, but both are not good in the run game.  Max Ixxxxx from Ariz St is impressive too---technically, there is not a of difference in these second tier guys--good in pass pro, need work in the run game.   If we wait until round 2 for an OT, we probably need to sign Nijman and start him early.   I almost think this is what we should do if Lomu is gone.  There is a big dropoff after him, imo, and I think we'd get better value if a stud ILB or edge is there.  Someone like TJ Parker Clemson makes sense. If Lomu is gone, trading back might be the play.
    • And what is x gunna help with except show him what not to do. Plus for the first year and a half he was just an obstacle
    • I understand that some people want WR. I am solidly against using yet another high pick there. Coker is pretty good and we used No picks on him.  What I think we really need at WR is a little bit of a Smitty lite. It is ridiculous to say let’s get a Smitty because you just can’t do that, but someone not tall and long striding but more in his mold. I think we’d have a pretty well rounded group.    Looking at tackle, with replacing Moton looming, it just seems like the no brainer.  You fill in Icky short term. Depending on how he recovers, and how the new guy plays, you go from there. A tackle at 19 is most likely either a LOT, a ROT, or a big talented guard, at worst. We will need all three in the next couple of years.  I would love to have a stud ILB be there at 19 but the OL is the responsible thing to do I believe.
