Some trade ideas.

what do you guys think of some of these:

Mathias Kiwanuka from the giants. After this season Osi will be back. That will either force Kiwanuka to be the second string DE or they will put him back at OLB where so far he's only played a few games. The Giants need WR help. Well we aren't using D.J. Hackett like we thought we would and maybe if we added someone like NA'll Diggs(and replace his spot with Dan Connor) to sweeten the deal, we could get a quality DE to take over Peppers spot without having to use early picks in the draft.

Alright then lets look at Peppers. If we franchise him and try a trade we need to get at least a proven starter for him as well as a draft pick. The pick should at least be a 3rd round pick or if were lucky a 3rd and maybe a 5th. As for players I see a few players we maybe able to get for him.

-If he wants to go to the Texans lets see if we could get someone like Dunta Robinson also. It's more than likely we will release Lucas so we should look for a good CB. If not him look at the D-line and maybe get Omobi Akoye.

-Let us try and get Nnamdi Asomugha from Oakland. Al Davis would go for Julius in a second if he could and i think Al's crazy enough to compensate us with Asomugha. Al Wants the big name and he'll get it with Peppers.

-Kansas City may be the one were If we got players we might be able to get two plus a draft pick. Tamba Ali may have only had 3 sacks this year put the entire defense had a bad year. Ali is young and had pretty good seasons before of 7.5 sacks in 07 and 8 sacks in 06. And he has a pretty good motor as well. And maybe we could get either CB Brandon Carr or Brandon Flowers who are both only 22 and played pretty well despite a rush that got only 10 sacks all year.

-Elvis Dumervil of the Denver Broncos could be part of a Peppers trade. Although he had 5 sacks this year he had 12.5 the year before. At 24 he has a good amount of years of productivity left in him. I'm going to resist tht urge to say Champ Baily. I know it sounds weird but Baily could be trade material but I don't want to get him. As much of a beast as he is I think we need to look younger at that position.

Ken Lucas could have some value. At this point I think a 6th round pick could be a good trade for him instead of just letting him walk. He could also be part of the peppers deal for extra players.

What do you guys think?

Two 1st round picks is the going rate for franchise players.

It's really not. It is what a team would get if another team signed away their non-exclusive franchise player. At that point, the gaining team would give the losing team two first rounders. Jared Allen only garnered a 1st, two 3rds and a swap of 6th rounders.

San Francisco. Peppers for the #10 pick and their 3rd round pick. The Panthers could then take Mark Sanchez,QB of the future at that spot or put themselves in a position to trade up and get him. The extra 3rd could give them the ammo to trade back into the late 1st round to take Michael Johnson, the DE from Georgia Tech,or somebody else to attempt to replace Pep

Only if they are signed while franchised, the only Coaches stupid enough to do that usually don't last long see Dom Capers.

In most cases the teams negotiate a trade, the tag is lifted if they agree to terms.

    • Some of you act like one can't learn from experience over time. Just because you may not know what you're doing in 2018 doesn't mean that you don't know what you're doing in 2025. Frankly, you grow from experience, and success and excellence gives first-time applicants the hand probably 99.999% of the time.
    • It's an interesting topic of conversation as sports evolves. I think ultimately it would lead to a number of small market franchises folding though. Especially in the NBA where there are so many bad teams that have been bad for years and years in some cases already. But as it stands I think athlete pay draft or no draft aside has reached a point where we can and should realistically ask should they make that much compared to the average person. Now college athletes is a different conversation but even that reaches a breaking point. But we could go down the rabbit hole on this even further into overall entertainment and talk about actors making absurd sums too. In the end I think in sports the powers that be won't allow these changes to even be considered because it opens the door for so many other variables. But who knows how long sports like football will realistically be around after people like us pass on. We're only just now learning about things like CTE which the league and the sport in general will only be able to run away from for so long. As far as the NBA goes my understanding is viewership has been steadily going down for a number of reasons but one crucial aspect is key players missing so many games. The NBA has to figure that out regardless. Especially when considering fans who pay to see these athletes compete in person. But hey I guess let's just try to appreciate what we've got while it still exists in this form eh?
    • I can't see a world where the money goes down, but maybe your lottery odds are now your contract numbers you can offer.  Thunder? You can offer Flagg 4 years, 20 million.  Hornets? You can offer Flagg 4 years, 80 million.  Some form of a system where the money is still there, but so is the freedom of choice (on top of bad teams getting *some* competitive advantage to signing them).
