Peppers would be a terrible OLB

And it's not just the coverage I'm talking about, 3-4 OLBs have to be fast and good in run support.

Something that Peppers is questionable at, he often misses the tackle or isn't involved in stopping the run and gets bulled over. He will be taking on a lot more offensive lineman and a full back.

I'm not suggesting that he'll never have to cover, but that his primary assignment would be to pressure the quarterback. Again, please see DeMarcus Ware.

Yea but Ware is about 20 pounds lighter and well he can cover. Pep on the other hand when he played in a zone this year was no so great. I mean we all know he is a good rusher but his cover skills are suspect.

I think where ever he goes that runs a 3-4 Peppers is going to be a monster and I only say this because of the fact he wants something new. And when you want something you give it you all and learn as much as you can as soon as you can. And he will do that and when this happen a lot of us are going to be pissed because Fox was to stubborn and didn't want to fired the DC.

I think pep could easily lose 10 or so pounds, He has problems keeping the weight on during the season. One hardcore off season and he could get his weight down to an acceptable level for an olb in a 3-4. I guess we'll see how he does in the 3-4 though.

The prob with that is he loses strength. Learning will be his problem more then anything.

imo he needs to go to a system with a great D coach that can teach him technique. If he wants to be an olb, losing a little bit of strength isn't the biggest deal in the world and the extra speed would help him out in that type of system. As a 3-4 olb though he's going to have to use speed techniques a lot more. Something he seems to have yet to develop here in Carolina.

lol seriously.

The guy is big and athletic, but there is no way in hell he could even remotely keep up with a WR or TE.

Is there even a OLB anywhere near 283lbs?

Pep could very well be the most ATHLETIC player in the league any day of the week. Too bad he doesn't want to be one of the BEST players in the league all the time though.

He could fit into a 3-4 easily.

Easily?

How? He would be the biggest OLB of all time?

The whole Idea of a 3-4 scheme is to bring rushers from different places. Think Steelers when they bring Troy Palamalu as a rusher or use to use Joey Porter. The DE/OLB will not be rushing all the time and will have to cover TEs and sometimes WRs and Running backs. Pep very well might succeed in this but his Sacks will gone down no doubt.

john abraham played de/olb on the jets in a 3-4. peppers can do it. willie mcginnest is 6'5'' 270 which is only a hair smaller than peppers. he was great in a 3-4 in NE.

some of you seem to be under the impression that a 3-4 olb is the same as a 4-3 olb.
