Fox can't get it together

Fox has always had the philosophy of running the ball and stopping the teams from running. Its seems every year we have one without the other. This year we finally had the best offensive line since 2003 however we did not pursue or develop the talent to stop the run.

We finally have a good offensive line but our defense will be in shambles. Peppers will leave and teams will rack up the points on us next year which will take care of that awesome running attack of ours because we will have to rely on Jake and the passing attack to keep us in games.

We have a good foundation with the offensive line and running game.

We have a good MLB core but cant be utilized effectively due to the defensive line and our soft zone for the passing game.

We have an elite WR but have failed to develop the young WR talent that we draft. We have a QB that fails to spread the ball effectively--- And why has Dante Rosario disappeared from the passing attack when he was a ball hawk when Steve Smith was out.

We have physical CB's and Safeties but we don't use their strengths. We do not play to our individual players strengths and thats why we have wasted talent on this team.

These problems are so obvious why can't they be fixed?????

QB-- Jake he is a good QB he had one of the best passer ratings in the post season until this year. He won the QB's challenge 2 years ago. He still has a few years left. I think we should get him to restructure to free up cap space. Future-- Draft Bradford or Sanchez in upcoming drafts.

RB-- This is solid --- Finally!!

WR-- Fire the WR's coach he has failed to develop the talent we drafted. Utilize more WR's and TE's to open Smith up. Jarrett and Rosario can step up and should be developed and used more effectively.

OL-- This is solid --- the basic formula for a SB team -- we have it.

DL-- Average to maybe being a liability Brayton is good , Lewis is good, Kemo is average and Peppers is gone. Taylor and Charles Johnson may step up but still this a liability on the team ---- Get stronger in DT and DE-- this must be addressed!!!!

LB's-- This is solid

CB's and Safeties-- Good players bad scheme. Ken Lucas may have to go. Harris is tough and talented -Marshall and Gamble have show flashes of greatness and have the talent to shine if the right scheme is used.

We are not that bad of a team. We just need some help on the defensive line and tweak defensive play calling and we have a SB contending team for years to come.

Because Fox is the head coach:crazy: Easy problem to diagnose but its another issue in being able to fix the problems. We have the wrong "surgeon" in town...paging Dr. Cowher!:D

I think Jake should be cut right away. He is done here in carolina.

    • Possible, he is physical and a forchecker but not a needle mover, but i wouldnt mind it, although I think we have enough 4th line grinders right now between Carrier Robinson and Janakowski  down there, i actually really love our 4th line.            We need scoring in the top 6, and a RHD at this point its definitely coming via trade.            Rasmus Andersson I hear may be on the market, it feels like every couple of seasons someone links us to Erik Karlsson.       As far as centers go,  Marco Rossi (even though we have a ton of smurf already)     Jordan Kyrou is an intriguing option if he is available.           At this point i think Rod should just move Jarvis to his natural center position to give us a 1B center...   yes hes also a smurf but he plays way bigger than he is stylistically.

    • The problem with these summary stats and rankings is that they flatten out progression and assume an even performance throughout the year. His first 3 or 4 games of the season don't really tell you anything about his current level of capacity but more about where he started and what his floor was last year. Given his last several games were against playoff teams, that gives you an idea of his current ability coming into the season. But it will serve more as a floor than a ceiling given the upgrade in talent on offense. And a better defense should give us more stops which results in shorter fields and more opportunities. And going into his third year there is no reason to suspect he will regress. His success wasn't  based on being superhuman but being smart and taking what was the defense was giving him. Distributing to the other guys not trying to do it on his own. He was great at the end when pressured and consistently moved the ball. That makes him a great game manager which is what we need. Something that is easier to do and relies on everyone else rather than having to be a top physical specimen or do it on his own. No one can predict the future but to say we haven't improved much is crazy given just having the Browns anchoring the defensive line will shut down the run and make sure QBs won't be stepping up in the pocket.  Assuming Evero got the message to can the prevent defense and bend until you break philosophy.
