Fox: Too Early to Name QB for Next Week

If we can learn anything about the parallels to the Derek Anderson/Brady Quinn situation (besides all the eerie similarities), is that neither will be a Panther for very long.

But that said, I don't think you can bench Clausen. It's come time to ride him out the whole season.

I don't know what you thought he was but what comes up comes out and always had on gameday. If you interview him tomorrow he will be more calm and intropsective. He is an emotional guy and always has been.

Oh I know. He'll be back to his mellow self once he has time to calm down. Just saying.

I like the idea that Clausen is testing the waters with the other Wrs. Though, I fully expect him to hit Smith more once he develops some chemistry with him. With the superb accuracy that Clausen has shown (at times), he may very well evolve into the type of qb that could propel Smith's status even higher than it already is.

i'm not advocating replacing anyone, and yes your qb has to get the respect of his teammates, the fact that smitty is venting shows that he still cares about winning, but its clear that we a rebuilding(even if FO won't say it). clausen as of now is considered the future by the FO so most players are going to have to fall in line as he grows(if they want to be here)

So true! Smitty just wants the ball. If you believe that he was throwing Clausen under the bus I believe your wrong. Really I read that he was calling Davidson under the bus more than anything...He wants the ball and dont care how he gets it. Think about it...we havent even done a reverse to smitty...wr screen...Anything that would but the ball in his hands. The difference between the first half and the second...PLAY-ACTION.. watch the game again...you'll see it. Clausen did been when we began to go to play-action.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
