Gotta Give Godfrey some love here (stats included)

i'm not reading too much into Godfrey's skills right now because I still think he's learning the system IMO. he was under Trgovac the first year he was with Carolina... then the system changes the following year and he misses more than a third of the games... then comes on strong at the end. now he's in a different position, yet he's showing growth. him showing growth in any area simply means he's starting to catch on. this doesn't exactly declare him as being the future best defensive player in the league by any means. it just means he's doing his job, and he needs to keep progressing. he gets a solid A for effort, but a B for execution. when he can force turnovers, knock balls down, and he can be in the right place at the right time when it counts the most... then you can say he's got mad skills.

rep for the don good break down and to add he was a CB in college so he made a change of positions right off the back then what you said....

and i do everyday cant wait till we catch up and legalize it here and make money like Cali does off it

Usually twice but this year to be honest I have only seen the last two games once. Did you know probowl voting usually comes from people looking at your numbers combined with what they already know about your stellar or unstellar play. Jarius Byrd last year was targeted because he was a rookie and he kept GETTING LUCKY (your def of int) and getting picks and damn guess what that earned him a trip to MIA (usually Hawaii). Two off Sanchez two more off Jake one off Derek anderson all last year were horrible qb's when it comes to efficiency so its not like he was eating up peyton brees or manning NOPE. But when you constantly are credited for turnovers you get rewarded because thats the ultimate reward at the SAFETY POSITION A TURNOVER WHICH SORRY ASS GODFREY IS EXCELLING AT. Oh yeah he just benefits from offensive mistakes like p55 said what a lucky dude to be so sorry and so lucky.

go back and watch week 1. Godfrey was just as big of a liability as Matt Moore week 1. Week 3 doesn't overshadow what occured weeks 1-2.

the pro bowl is a joke to a large degree b/c of what the "fans" to do the voting. Carolina doesn't have a fan base to sway votes so that conversation can be ended. NFL players who play Carolina are gonna know he is an inconsistant player who gives up huge plays b/c he can't handle coverage assignments. They won't be in awe of INTs off underthrown balls or tipped passes.

Isn't "being in the right place at the right time" where your supposed to be?

No, you put a rookie CB on Steve Smith and Smith can abuse him......if the QB throws a horrible pass the CB can end up with a pick. He made the QB pay despite being completely lost on his coverage and being beat like he stole something. Teams aren't going to be impressed by his pick.....they will go right back to the weak CB.

Godfrey is the weak CB in the analogy.

    • I mean I just don't understand the argument. Baker and Sam both have been pro bowl QBs post their time here. And you just said yourself that is due to him having a damn good roster around him and they are well coached. You're even saying the bad baker is still there somewhere, but he is in a good organization with good roster and coaching that they are getting the best out of him. Why does Baker and Sam get all that benefit of the doubt but when it comes to Bryce it must be a BY9 problem, not an org or team problem?  Hell I got a guy below you arguing with me that Chark/Hurst/Mingo sucked because Bryce wouldn't throw them open. It's ridiculous how far the stretch goes.
    • Correct.  It’s really hard to get open in the NFL when opposing defenses gameplan and cheat coverage/routes on all your players because they know your QB can’t make certain throws/plays.   magically no one that comes to Carolina can get open or make plays with the ball in their hands…..it’s like there is one singular common dominator to it all.  BY makes playing defense way too easy.   NFL players are too good to allow one side to cheat coverage and not respect all the potential threats of a route  so you can dial up a great play.  But if corners and safeties just cheat coverage and know X and Y happening on route/threats….getting open gets hard when they just play it one way.  Getting open has a lot to do with the different threats a WR can pose on a given play.
    • Kinda depends how you look at it both were 3rd round draft pics.  Nico was nothing before stroud and tank came in with stroud.  If both were on the panthers would young have them doing well and starting or would their stats be low.  I really dont know the answer to that.  None of the panthers wrs have left and did well either but personally i feel neither of nico or tank would do much on the panthers.
