All this negativity on here just makes me wanna cry. It's a tough situation to be in the dog house with teams like the Cleveland Browns, or Detroit Lions... but if you want to try and stay on a positive note... should we lose all of our games, we'll have the #1 pick in next year's draft (should there be a next season, which there probably will be). JR will clean house, and our new coach will probably stick with Clausen, Stewart, Beason, Gamble, and probably three of our five starting offensive lineman (you can kind of guess which ones those are). So whoever comes in to replace Fox will have a solid foundation to build around and I don't think it'll take two to three years to reach the playoffs. I think it'll happen next season. When you think about teams like this, the Falcons stand out the most in my eyes. Mike Smith came in, made a change at QB, brought in some guys whom he was familiar with, and took them to the playoffs in his first season there. The same could be said of Rex "Shamoo" Ryan and the Jets. We're already a step ahead with our QB, now we just need a few key guys and a new head coach to get things going!

Just stick in there guys, next season will be here before you know it!

PS: F*ck John Fox.

We have a lot of solid players here.

Get a coaching staff with a clue. Fill the second CB hole, get a #2 WR with a clue, add another playmaker or two on the DL and boom were back in the playoffs.

Clausen

DWill

JStew

Goodson

Fiametta

Smith

Our TE stable

Gross (He'll figure it out)

Otah

Kalil

Our LG from SC whose name is eluding me right now

Hardy

Beason

Connor

Davis

Norwood

Gamble

Martin

Munnerlyn

We have a poo load of talent on this team but when you have a complete lack of a coaching and a few major gigantic holes its hard to win in this league.

I like this list, a lot. What I don't like, and it's something that I have been saying for a very long time, is that we have never fully addressed the passing game. Even when the NFL pretty much made it known that you were going to have to score 24 pts per week to win on a consistant basis.

You know, I thought about the whole coaching aspect of it too after I posted the OP. I wouldn't touch the defense to be honest with you. Well, yeah... a CB and a couple DE's wouldn't be a bad idea... but I think Ron Meeks really fires this team up, along with Brian Baker. Our special teams have been much improved over last season... it's really just been our offense. Through the many years that Fox has been here, the only part of the offense he seems to want to focus on is the running game. And I remember listening to an interview of Marty Hurney and he started listing off positions that he felt comfortable with while leading up to the decision to pick Jimmy Clausen. He said something like "with our running game, and Steve Smith at the wide receiver position, we just felt necessary to add some depth at the QB position to add flexibility to our offense." What this says to me is that Hurney and Fox have been complacent to just having one wide receiver to carry the bulk load. And it kind of screams to me that even though they've spent a lot of time on the passing game this offseason, they didn't really spend enough time on it.

if there is no lockout and if we had the #1 pick.....Jerry would make sure it got traded. Jerry is leading the charge for a lockout b/c he doesn't want to be paying absurd contracts.....he wants to "take back the league".

    • Having trouble finding all these articles saying the Raiders withheld information. Here’s the latest from Crosby’s surgeon: ElAttrache told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday morning that Crosby was "doing very well in the early part of his rehab and recovery from surgery to treat a significant meniscus tear and the related stress injury to the bone and cartilage in his knee. He is certainly on track in his planned program." "We truly respect the work of the Ravens' staff with Maxx regarding the contract physical exam. We also understand the challenge the staff faces when tasked to provide a future risk assessment based on an evaluation early in the recovery process," ElAttrache said. "This is especially challenging when dealing with an elite player like Maxx considering the level of commitment necessary for a team to obtain him. The timing of this assessment is unfortunate because the apparent risk will lessen as his recovery progresses and his return to performance over the next few months becomes clear."     So the Ravens excuse is the future risk assessment based on the physical, not that the Raiders withheld information. They found an excuse to save face publicly. They had the right to cancel the trade for no reason at all, but they’re trying to save face with the most acceptable reasoning they can find. I’ve heard and seen the Ravens getting dragged everywhere for this. You know what would be an easy way to put a stop to that if you’re the Ravens and the Raiders were actually the shady ones withholding information? Just come out and say that you were not given all the medical information. But they aren’t saying that. I guess they’re just taking the bullet for the Raiders just because?    Speculation indeed.
    • Two first round picks for a guy with very questionable knees who will be 29 this summer. Yes it is safe to say the Ravens got cold feet.
