Wear Pink

Or just mention that with your original post instead of being vague and baiting people. Get off your high horse. You're not special either.

ok, not on a high horse, but my mom died from breast cancer, didn't think that would be the right thing to put at the start of a thread, but I guess I was wrong

Was referring to this..

Buying pink NFL merchandise helps breast cancer research.

Maybe if you read what you originally said you would understand why people wouldn't understand how just wearing pink saves lives.

Buying pink NFL merchandise helps breast cancer research. Being funny is cool, but being funny about something like this is just stupid. So if you want to be like that, god will deal with you on that, but if a woman in your life gets breast cancer I hope my money and the other people who give their time and money will save her life, or keep her alive as long as possible

blah blah blah...

you don't even know what is going on in my family right now, so I think you need to shut the *** up. k?

How about all of you just chill, help in whatever way you can to the charity you feel most comfortable with by donating your time and/or money, and stop being a horse's ass to each other on a message board.

Novel idea, isn't it?

So give to Breast Cancer this month. I can get behind that.

Thanks dude, it could save someone you love. You don't have to buy the NFL's pink stuff, but they do give all of it to breast cancer research. The reason they only wear it on a road game and one home game is so what they are auctioning off is rare( not counting the stuff we can buy at the stadium or wherever) and only wore by that athlete that year at home or on the road .I buy something every year, and bid on the game worn stuff, but usually don't win. But I give money to my NAACP's breast cancer drive. They put all the money toward research also!

Wearing pink really doesn't matter -- I think all of us know all too well that it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It's hard not to.

And sure, you could purchase "pink" products to benefit breast cancer research, but proceeds from much of this pink merchandise doesn't even support breast cancer research. It's all just a marketing ploy that many companies use to turn a profit.

Sorry, but that's the cold, hard truth. I'm all for breast cancer research and saving lives, but me wearing a pink shirt will get us no closer to a cure (unless I did purchase said shirt from a company donating some of the proceeds of said shirt).

But they will still believe every bit of the money they donated to the Haiti earthquake fund went to that fund.

Suckers.

Last October (and probably today's game) I wore my wife's pink Panthers hat to the tailgates and the games. No money from the purchase of that hat went to any charity. I wore it to show my support not only for those battling breast cancer, but also for some people close to me that are in the field of fighting all cancers.

It is not as much about giving money for research, but more for raising awareness about early detection, early diagnosis, and treatment.

I didn't think about it that way.

I was about to say that theoretically if you buy a pink NFL hat for $25 and $5 went to Breast Cancer research, but you didn't really need the hat, that it would be more efficient to bypass buying the hat you dont' need (profiting the hat manufacturer) and donate $10 to Breast Cancer Research.

    • Kind of where I'm at on this also. I think he has the potential to be an all pro caliber guard if he can come back 100%. He's more mauler than quick. Hunt is making 20m per, Moton is making 22m. Moton is a better RT than Icky is a LT so I think the pay comp would probably be about the same there. I don't see Icky as a 28m per season LT. He'll be low 20s and as an elite guard, i think he'd be within a couple mill of that.
    • I read that Pittsburgh is a possibility.  I think of college QB studs who had some form of mental quirk yet tons of talent--but their issue made being a team leader difficult and it led to their demise--going back:  Jamarcus Russell, Art Schlichter, Jeff George, etc. I think people forget that the QB must not only have talent, but they must lead.
    • I wish I knew more details, but the NIL money to 20-year olds combined with easy access to gambling sites is a side effect that these kids may not have considered.  To your point,A famous 2009 Sports Illustrated article titled “How (and Why) Athletes Go Broke” estimated that 78% of retired NFL players go bankrupt or face significant financial stress within two years of leaving the league.  I am guessing that ego and $$$ and the thrill of competition (most pro athletes love competition because they are the winners) makes it a powerful temptation.  Throw in the ease of gambling on your phone which is always in your hand, and I see your point x 10.
