Armanti Edwards

Punisher

Edwards would actually be a perfect QB for this team with its terrible o-line play. It's only a matter of time since Clausen and Moore are going to get killed if they keep holding on to the ball. So I don't see how Edwards doesn't play QB by the end of the season. At least Edwards can make something happen with his legs. With no o-line and no WRs, that is the only chance the Panthers have.

I think they need to keep him learning the WR position, if he was that great of a QB, wouldn't teams have sought after him more in the draft? Personally I do not like the WildCat, the only team that i've seen that can run effectively time after time is Miami. Edwards at QB, and we havent even seen him throw the ball in the NFL, one play for a five or six yard gain, and everyone wants this guy at QB? Are you kidding?

for one, he has thrown the ball in preseason for like a 10 yard pass so strike one, and two, the wild cat formation did more in 2 plays than clausen did all game, so strike two, and for three your an idiot if you dont think he can throw or make plays at qb..so yea 1, 2, 3, yea thats three strikes..your out.

you need to try to fill the stadium seats as a nfl team owner. or at least sell your tickets by making an exciting game

I think that is the one thing having AE playing more in the mountaineer package would do for this team. at least you dont know ahead of time what is going to happen on any given play, its entertainment if nothing else and for panthers fans this season entertainment value is probably about all we can hope for

No way he fits the traditional NFL mold for a QB but damn, the kid threw for 10,000 yards in the same league Flacco did. (yea yea high school league I know what ever) He has a freakin cannon for an arm and he can throw it on the run. He is a master at working the clock. No way in hell he has the same number of passes batted down as Clausen. He's too mobile for that.

He ran for 4,000 yards in college when everyone in the stadium knew what he was going to do. Don't like that number? Cut it in half. Cut it in half again if that makes it fit better. Think Clausen or Moore will run for 500yrds this year? AE would and make most of the passes too.

Why does it have to be the wildcat? What's wrong with the shotgun. Why can't we use him every now and then when we need someone who can run and pass. Maybe it would screw with the starter's rhythm but at this point who cares.

I hope the Panthers let the kid go. Be interesting to see how fast (or if) someone picked him up.

you're freaking delusional if you think AE would run for 500 yards as a starting QB in this system.

I don't mean to be rude, but if you think he's going to put up anything close to his numbers in college, you're insane. Remember Pat White? He played in the big boys division and didn't look half bad at QB and still failed hard in a system not unlike ours. AE looks like he has a better arm, but his height really hurts him.

AE won't be let go by the Panthers for years. He'll probably get some Wildcat chances, and we'll see how he does. Can't hurt much.

But Clausen (or Moore...) will be our starter. Having AE start the game wouldn't really be a good ideafor their confidence.

I know he will never start at QB for the Panthers. I agree that shouldn't be his role. I don't think he would start for anyone else either. I'm just responding to people who continue to suggest that he doesn't have the talent to contribute as a role player of some kind.

I'll say this. I do believe that if they would give him a series or two a game at QB (shotgun, wildcat whatever) there wouldn't be enough crows in NC to serve all the experts on this board. As far as the wide receiver thing goes that jury is still out.

I'll say it again I wish they would release him. I think some would be suprised at how fast he would be picked up.

Definitely not this year. It just isn't practical at this point after converting him to WR/PR/Wildcat player. He hasn't look bad as a receiver either. I liked the effort on that catch out of bounds. He should have stopped on that interception tip, but that is only hindsight speaking. He was trying to run with it and make something happen. Either way, despite the haters this kid is a good prospect.

Just came late to bring up the fact that yes, he looked BAD at receiver.

Armanti Edwards IS the answer. He is the only QB that we have that can get the job done. Has a terrific arm, as the announcers said they saw him in practice and he has a "laser arm". He is only an inch shorter than Drew Brees so that shouldn't be an issue.

AE could get us time in the pocket for our rookie receivers to get open. Can run like hades if he has to. He would have outgained our total yardage of today on just scrabbling out of the pocket when nothing is open.

Clausen is NOT an NFL QB. Too slow, makes bad decisions, doesn't survey the field, doesn't find a passing lane, hardly any mobility, cannot take snaps sometimes, cannot hand off sometimes, he gets too excited sometimes to even do his job. This thing of give him time to mature is ridiculous. Anyone can complete one pass now and then, doesn't make them an NFL QB. We are talking about someone that has had a professional QB coach since he was in the seventh grade. Didn't do it at Notre Dame either.

Put Armanti Edwards in at QB. I know they have not worked with him much during summer and preseason, but he will still do a heck of a lot better than any QB not named Edwards.

    • Same, bro.  Yeah, it just feels it has run its course and I don’t know that we’ll ever get more value.  Plus, with the new ownership, this draft has been super encouraging, so dare I believe maybe this FO can get something to really put us over the top in return for Melo.  I’ll still be a fan of his game and try to keep up with him if we move on, but yeah, I feel it’s time to turn the page. (and side note: I felt so happy after their rookie years because I told everybody I wanted Melo and didn’t trust Ant.  And Melo clearly looked like the better player early…  I thought Ant would bust because all that stuff he said about not loving the game and just his resume to that point…  but damn, if we could go back in time.🤣🤣🤣. I love Ant’s game and at times, when he gets in the zone, he is THE BEST player in the league in my opinion.)
    • Appreciate that, bro!  And I could definitely see that with Cam.  Even though he’s a little younger than me, he is also someone I admire and feel a kinship with for a lot of various reasons. Funny enough, a few years after that encounter with Steve, I went to Charlotte with one of my friends whose brothers owned a moving company at the time.  He dropped me off uptown and went to work the day with them where I would wait until he got done and then we were gonna go to the Bobcats game that night.  So I walk all through that area for hours.  After awhile, I walk back towards the arena and sit in a bench on the backside of the arena, where the practice court and player’s entrance was.  As I’m sitting there, I look up and almost think I’m seeing things - I squint and blink my eyes a couple times just to be sure, and yes…  it’s one of my childhood heroes, Muggsy Bogues walking across the crosswalk and into the arena.  I think he was coaching the Sting then, iirc.  Part of me wanted to just say, “Hey!  Muggsy!  Thank you for the inspiration and memories!  You were one of my favorite players as a kid!”  But, I just watched him walk by and into the arena and thought, “that was cool!”  I also so Miguel Cotto a couple years back while in Orlando and told my kids who it was but didn’t say anything to him.  I think somewhere in my subconscious, that encounter with Steve really made me feel like the gamble on finding out if they’re receptive to interaction just isn’t worth finding out.  At the end of the day, no matter if they’re receptive inspired us or were a hero, unless they initiate it, I likely never will…  because again, they’re humans just like us.  Not anymore unique or special, they just have a highly visible and very public job that we get to watch and in some ways participate.  So, I just appreciate it for what it is.
    • I'm pleasantly surprised they gave it to Bryce Young over Josh Allen. Finally we're getting some respect. Now I'm just hoping the team follows this up accordingly and doesn't lay another egg.
