we were supposed to, esp. with the running game this year and we did.

defense, though....not there (understatement).

still, they have how many years more than us?

be patient. it will come. we are more likely to be steeler-like than lion-like.

our turn will come.

Not quite there.

Steelers, Pats, Eagles, Ravens to some degree have a SYSTEM when it comes to the draft.

They NEVER EVER reach for a player. They don't fall for that stupid BS lack of knowledge by drafting best player available.

They plug a guy who will replace the older version of himself year after year.

They let guys go early instead of too late. They rarely get burned with total duds in Free Agency because of the system.

After the SB win for the Steelers in 79 they went back to the Champ game only one time in the next 5yrs(84) then not again for 10 yrs(Cowher's first) since then an great run the last 15 years.

Lucky for the Steelers and their fans though is Jerry Jone's ego. Had he kept his mouth shut and his wallet open and let Jimmy Johnson do his thing the Cowboys would have won several more.

But thats another debate for another time.

The more aggressive you are up front, the more chances you take. The more chances you take, the more you rely on good play at the safety spot. Last night I saw several plays that would have gone for big gains had it not been for good plays by Troy Polamalu and Ed Reed.

Until this year we had a revolving door at one safety position or the other, but now we will be going into 2009 with the same pair we had in 2008. Maybe that will allow us to unleash the speed we have at linebacker. I would like to think it will, at any rate.

    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
    • Burns at 5-6 seems....a little aggressive.
