Why is DeAngelo being limited?

I really don't understand it. As he is one of the most dynamic running backs in the league why do we limit his carries. I believe Davidson needs to give this guy atleast 20 touches a game not averaging about 15 a game like he does right now. I understand Stewart is a good back as well but he is lacking the explosiveness this season it seems to me and keeps making stupid mistakes at crucial times. I know the offense is dismal and the o-line is looking like the raiders o-line of a few years ago but geeze get Williams the D*mn ball.

it's coaching plan & simple, i look at the jets and they have two running backs who touch the ball on average 17 times a game & we can't find a way to get atleast one of our backs 20(just doesn't make sense)

we haven't been able to do it.

we can't stay on the field long enough. the RBs have no room to run and can't do it effectively on a consistent basis because they blitz the run all the time because they don't worry about the passing game.

we have also fallen behind and you don't run run run when you're losing losing losing.

Why? So we can give him more carries so he can fall for 2 yds every rush? Because that is all that is happening right now. We are wasting 1st and 2nd down with run plays that get us nowhere. If anything we need to be devising ways to get our RB's in the passing game.

The Saints use tons of screens and even incorporate misdirections in those screen plays to make up for their weak run game. That opens up down the field plays, probably about a third of Brees' passes come within five yards of the line of scrimmage, which helps his ridiculous completion percentage. Against the Saints, we ran a successful screen pass to D on our very first offensive play, and havent seen one since.

And the reality is we wouldn't have to do it like them since we actually have a good run game when we don't have 9 in the box. But watch Brees even on medium throws, he goes through his progressions, settle on a guy and fires it out there. Something we haven't done very well.

Screens unless designed as the base play knowing the team is going to blitz is often a read and audible where you actually call it to neutralize the blitz.

i've been saying it all along. it makes NO sense to keep trying to run the ball when you're running into a wall over 95% of the time. even if it was working a little we still can't stay on the field long enough to see any benefit of it. we have to be getting those first downs and the passing game is the only thing that is going to make that happen.
