Fickle fans and coaching changes

i want what i have always want and that is for the panthers to win.

i don't care who it is that makes it happen as long as our team and players are achieving at their highest levels. if it is the players holding us back, get new ones. if it is the coaches that are holding us back, get new ones.

coaches and players are only here to win. if they can't make that happen, then find someone who can.

trgo has not been able to make our defense what it is supposed to be since we went to the superbowl (using what del rio put together).

there may be flashes of brilliance from time to time but that isn't enough to blaze a trail to the lombardi.

Na, that is wrong, lol

You have no common sense.

The reason you hear people saying they want new this or that, is because the SAME people are at their positions and no change has been made.(so obviously it is the same rants)

You condemn the wanting for new coaches, but what has your crusade for maintaining our current staff gotten you?

Last time I checked, the Panthers have 0 rings, so you are just as wrong as anyone else.

Everyone talks about the talent at Trgo's disposal. But is this a reality?

His best D Lineman takes plays off and his heart hasn't been in it the last couple of years.

His best D back is someone the Bears basically gave to the Panthers a couple of years ago.

Beason has become one of the better defensive players in the League, but overall is the whole really worse than the sum of its parts?

I struggle less with my weight than you struggle with your sexual identity. Wanna know why you have probs with chicks? Your preference is dicks.

I hear they even have strawberry twinkies now. When everyone buys up all the bread and milk tonight, go in and see for yourself.

Marty Hurney had better pull a f ing rabbit out of his hat with Gross and Peppers or I'm going to lead the band to run his ass out of town. I can't believe he has drug his feet and waited untill their contracts are up without getting something done. From what I have read they knew for the past year that Peppers wanted out. They should have got a deal worked out with Gross so the franchise tag would be open for Peppers. Now Gross's agent is going to saddle Hurney's ass up and ride him all the way to the bank because the team can't tag him again because they have to tag Peppers and if they do not sign him he walks and the team gets nothing! Its possible that there will not be a team willing to cough up the draft picks the Panthers want for Peppers and he could leave and the Panthers get nothing.

I think if Gross was really this magical "awesome/better panther", he would sign for what they offered Peppers.

(possibly less)

I mean if he is such a good panther, he wouldn't let this situation burn us, and he would sign without too much of a hassle.

I don't condemn it. I just think it's funny. Personally, I think the odds of Trgo surviving this are about 50/50. And the next guy MAY come in and make a difference. But that is anything but a guarantee. Fox is comfortable with him. Just like he's comfortable with Crossman.

One of the reasons Henning was let go is because Henning was a loose cannon with the media. Fox put a muzzle on his coaches after training camp the year Henning was fired because Henning shot from the hip a couple of times.

Well guess what man, everyone else is going to the media too....

Henning, Jenks, Pep........others may follow...

People seem to be fed up with Fox and his poo, and people just diss those guys who are opposite Fox, but from my perspective, it looks like Fox is wrong with what he has been doing.

Fox don't like people speaking up, probably to cover up his short comings, it is hard to condemn someone you don't know much about. Good strategy to save your own ass sure, but eventually people will bust, and it will air out anyway.(look at Gruden in Tampa)

Do you seriously have the confidence that if/when Fox is fired, that our coaches or players won't be saying the same kind of stuff against Fox?

Valid points. I'm just playing devil's advocate, I guess. Kind of like the ESPN guys have been doing about the situation in Philly. Fans there are fed up with Reid and McNabb, but the Reid/McNabb era is the most successful one in team history, by far. Fox has his shortcomings, no doubt, and so do his assistants. But there are 16 teams in the NFC, and only one can say that they haven't had a season worse than 7-9 during Fox's tenure.

If I had told you after the 1-15 season that your next coach would do that for you, as well as give you a trip to the Super Bowl, another one to the NFC Championship and another one where the team finished 12-4, would you have taken it?

See now here is where I change sides a bit.

Reid and McNabb have gone to what 5 NFC championship games...(and 1 Superbowl loss too)

They also play in a better division historically(recent years), so it is MUCH harder to make it.(if not the best divison)

It may be time for change in Philly. This may be the best McNabb and Reid can do for Philly.

Still they didn't do a bad job, or cost their team...........they did well and have had great success.

    • Just because all draft picks are a gamble doesn't mean you don't have a better chance at hitting on a better player the higher you're drafting. It would literally be like someone saying, I'll give you 1 or 2 free spins on a slot machine, and you say you'll take the 1 because you're not likely to win anything anyways with 1 or 2, so why bother? The Cowboys desperately wanted T-Mac, but because they were 4 picks behind us, they weren't able to get him.  If you told Cowboys fans that had they lost 2 more games last year in a lost season, that it would get them the player they wanted so badly, would they in retrospect go back and lose those games to get their guy? 95% of them would take that trade off in a heartbeat, and the others who wouldn't are the fans who would rather enjoy an extra win or two in a poo season to then set themselves up to be better for the next decade. I also think the fans who argue against this thinking, get too caught up in the "well that means you're going to be rooting against us late in the season even if we still have a shot at the playoffs." Which isn't true, it's saying if you're telling me right now we'd make the playoffs but lose in the first round, that I'd rather end up 8-9 or 9-8 and just miss the playoffs because in our opinion, the benefits that come along with that outweigh the benefit of the players getting 1 game of playoff experience.
    • In relation to tanking. I think you can count on one hand the number of people here who actually want us to lose football games. When accounting for it across the fanbase it amounts to maybe 2% of the entire Panthers fanbase. But you engage with some internet trolls and think haters are coming out of the woodwork and hey look at that it's all a conspiracy that leads to Bryce Young haters. Do you hear yourself sir? If it sounds ridiculous that's because it is. I mean at this point do you see Bryce haters in your dreams? As far as the culture of this franchise goes we seem to be doing better in that department via what we are building right now and with the people we have in place. But we also shouldn't just make assumptions just yet either. The rubber still needs to meet the road. And going back to previous seasons I think we can acknowledge although tanking obviously isn't a thing there were some times where we thought our culture was improving but really it wasn't. Yes I'm looking directly at some of those wins under Wilks. If the culture had truly changed we would not have lost to the Steelers who have been mediocre for years at home the way we did and they were starting Mitch Trubisky ffs. We did not change our culture for the better and we won games that ultimately meant nothing. It was just a brief mirage. We've done this for years now. The harsh truth of the matter is the Panthers have not had a winning season or been to the playoffs in going on 8 years but in those years they've been trying to convince themselves they aren't poo but in the process all they've done throughout most of that time period is squander better draft position and we were still the worst team in the league for our troubles. At the end of the day we should be able to just be adults and reconcile with that. And no that isn't being "pro tank" or any other boogeyman term it's simply recognizing reality.
    • He's an asset in a game manager role. But as soon as you have to ask him to go out there and try to make plays and not just take what the defense is giving him... well, Darnolding happens.
