why is Bill Cowher the answer to our problems?

The team takes on the persona of the coach. Look at Wizenhunt. (another Steeler DC) He is fiery and emotional. And here they are in 43. Now look at Fox, boring (except on offense) and no emotion. Just like the team.

Whisenhunt was the Steelers offensive coordinator, NOT defensive.

I really don't mind the Panthers losing, its part of the game.

What I mind is when the Panthers play like losers. See the last playoff game for an example.

Cowher teams if I remember correctly always gave it their all.

Your post was about the Cards being "fiery and emotional" like the Steelers D despite the Cards playing a 43. Your post inferred that the link was Whisenhunt's experience as DC. There is no point.

Superbowl 43. When I say 4-3 guess what I do? I put a - in there. My point was about the Panthers and Fox, coaching and playing with no emotion. But some people want to correct others so bad that they don't read.

The Steelers had the #1 defense, and also played the hardest schedule this year......

So that is no excuse, I don't give two sh*ts who we played, the defense sucked.

Just means our team is some soft bitches. We need a tough mentality and tough coach.

This is systematic and problematic of the whole attitude on this board. What in the hell has how the Steelers played defense this year possibly have to do with Cowher, (years removed from coaching)? Fact is, it doesn't.

Pittsburgh has a great defense, always has. But to quote how the current defense is playing as a testimony of a coach years removed from the team is ludicrous. Selective memory is not a quality...

Not against Cowher at all if it were to come to it, but let's be real people...

I'd like to add. f*ck pittsburg and they fans that say they are Panther fans, depending on which team is doing better.

And, just so you know, I have always supported the Steelers, and have made it known. Many people support an AFC team an an NFC team as a matter of course.

It's disingenuous to think that hardcore fans who grew up in the 70s and 80s would just abandon a team because another one comes into existence. Some may have dropped their olld teams and I respect it, but many continue to support their pre-Panthers teams, and I respect that. Just because some youngster doesn't have the longevity, experience or wisdom to appreciate that fact makes them appear foolish. It's hatorade, pure and simple. I am a Panther fan first and foremost, regardless of what anyone thinks or has to say about it, but I have always supported the Steelers and will apologetically continue to do so.

the main reason i want cowher is for his exciting blitzing defense. if u think about those types of defenses u get ravens, Pitsburgh, and eagles who all were in conference championships. i also could mention pats an bears who have had great success in recent years....

i want a agressive defense that gets sacks an forcess turnovers. if u get beat on big play u get beat, but its better than every drive goin 60 yds slowly becasue our corners play 10 yds off!

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
