They’ve lost players the past few years because of salary cap they’re eating 18 mill in dead money this year for Cam Jordan and Demario Davis I believe they’ll still have 8 mill or so in dead money in 2027 for Cam Jordan They now have a QB on a rookie deal. Both RT and LT on rookie deals. As much as everyone hates on the Saints they’ve drafted themselves out of this massive hole they dug themselves in -
My first instinct is to be livid. But these jokers are tying their jobs to this so let them make their bed. And on the flip side. Seeing what Canales managed with Bryce Young last season who knows what he could do with Pickett if need be if it came down to it. I still want us to draft a developmental QB. -
Because if Bryce goes down, we're screwed no matter what. And if Bryce goes down, it means we're probably replacing him next year anyways. So why spend this kind of money on a backup who isn't going to help you win a lot of games, but is probably good enough to help you win just enough to not get a top pick in the draft. Should have just drafted a mid round QB this year. Bryce either proves he's the guy of the future and then we sign a real backup next year (unless the rookie can handle the job), or he shits the bed again and we give the rookie a shot to see if he can be the next Wilson or Purdy, and if not we draft a new QB next year.
