For the side of the ball that needs help the most

QB-Andrew Luck, Seneca Wallace, Matt Hasselbeck

pray to god for the Panthers' sake Andrew Luck decides to skip his senior year. If Jim Harbaugh leaves college ball and decides to join us in the pros, that will certainly be an encouraging factor. Seneca Wallace is probably the best backup in the league and keeps an offense competitive in the event of a starter's injury. Hasselbeck i wouldn't really want to start but to give Luck some guidance in his younger years. Keep Clausen? Maybe, but we might be better off just completely clean slating the QB position.

RB-Williams, Stewart, Goodson, Sutton OR Williams, Goodson, Sutton, 4th/5th rd Draft pick, OR Stewart, Goodson, Sutton, 4th/5th rd draft pick.

Eh, I'm kind of open to this. We could re-sign DeAngelo and keep Stewart and have a pretty good core. Or we could re-sign Williams, and try to trade Stewart but I doubt we'll get anyone to give us fair compensation since, after all, RBs get injured left and right and it doesn't take a superstar RB to have a solid running game. Our best bet might be to retain Williams and leave the RB core the way it is now, but given the fact that we have so many other positions of need, we have to look at the option of letting him walk as a possibility.

WR-Smith, FA, Brandon LaFell/Gettis

LaFell and Gettis I see being two good slot threats next year if they have someone better ahead of them. As far as free agency is concerned, two big young names yet to be re-signed are Sidney Rice and Steve Smith (Giants). Landing either of those would instantly turn this receiving core into a secondary's nightmare, however there is the likelihood both of them stay with their teams. Santonio Holmes and Mike Sims-Walker are also potential FA candidates.

TE-FA, Rosario, Barnidge

Since the days of Wesley Walls the Panthers have tried their hardest to ignore this position, treating it as an afterthought and it's time for that to finally end. So instead of starting another marginal Quintus Pfuffnick, peruse the FA pool. Zach Miller is my top choice, but Oakland might keep him. Other upgrades include Kevin Boss, Marcedes Lewis, and Owen Daniels. Retain Rosario as he won't cost much and has a more unique skill set than Jeff King.

Oline-Gross, Wharton, Kalil, Schwartz, Otah, Bernadeau, Robinson, sign/draft Oline depth

Gross, Wharton and Otah will all be here next season. It is imperative we keep Kalil, and Schwartz has been improving steadily over the year. Let him compete to be the full time starter at RG and give Robinson one last shot. Fill out the rest of the roster with a combo of low tier FA and mid-late round draft picks.

I don't care what he is, I just want Luck on the Panthers next year.

The main guys i would like to see targeted in FA:

Marcedes Lewis, TE

Barry Cofield, DT

Ray McDonald or Brandon Mebane, DT

James Jones or possibly Vincent Jackson, WR

Paul Oliver, DB depth

Rex Hadnot, OL depth

Billy Volek, backup QB

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
