Adam Schefter from the NFL Network will be doing a live chat with fans at 1 p.m. est. on nfl.com. He'll be taking questions in regards to anything fans want to know that is happening in the NFL. I don't know if anyone even likes him but in case you do and want to find out what is happening with Carolina... This could be a good time to ask.

Just thought I would let you know

Thoughts on the Panthers coaching staff situation. whos the leading candidate for D-Coordinator?

Adam Schefter, NFL Network

Vance: Seems like there's a whole lot going on in your neck of the woods. The two names I've heard connected to the Panthers defensive coordinator job are Ron Meeks, formerly of the Colts, and Jim Haslett, formerly of the Rams. Either would be a superb choice to me.

i think he does too wasnt he a position coach under monte kiffin when dungy was there?

and for some reason i thought haslett was an offensive coach...

could be wrong

You are thinking of Scott Linehan. He was the head coach who was the Rams OC I think. Haslett was promoted to head coach when STL. fired Linehan during the season. Haslett was the D Coordinater.

What are the chances Carolina lets Julius Peppers go; Ravens and Terrell Suggs? I'm a Denver Fan and I'm hoping one hit FA

Adam Schefter, NFL Network

Hope this isn't Josh McDaniels from Denver writing in, is it? Josh, Denver is going to have to generate a pass rush, but both those players are going to ridiculously expensive, and the Broncos defensive problems are not the type that one player can fix. Denver needs to devote the next couple of drafts to the best defensive players it can find. It has tried to sign high-priced defensive free agents -- Daryl Gardner, Kavika Pittman, Dwayne Robertson and generally it has not worked. Denver needs to go back to doing it the old fashioned way -- drafting defensive studs.

We have the players to run the true tampa 2 with Beason in the middle. We will need to upgrade the pass rush though from the front 4 and maybe add a more attacking OLB. It might be interesting to see what Meeks can do with the horses we could supply him vs the D he had in Indy.

Please, don't start this.....please

I'd take Meeks over Haslett if Fox wants to keep the Tampa 2 scheme. Beason is perfect for this scheme at MLB. If Pep still wants to leave, we can trade him for a chance to draft Peria Jerry/DT/Ole Miss, who would be a perfect fit for this scheme on the DL, and a good complement to Kemo. Charles Johnson and Hillee Taylor could excel in this scheme also. If we could get an OLB that attacks, like you said, this defense has the potential to be tough again.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
