Wat works best for pain?

You can try a combo of ibuprofen and aspirin. Ibu will help reduce inflammation and relax the muscle while aspirin will thin the blood a little and relieve some of the internal tightness and swelling.

There's no reason not to give you a narcotic unless they think you're either faking or have a history of drug seeking.

Your best long term solution is obviously to fix the problem rather than masking the symptoms.

Oh, also try heat packs or ice, you can make a case for either.

demerol is my favorite

sounds like you could use a little corticosteroid injection though...but it depends on where in the shoulder you are talking about. The injection will certainly help if its coming from the joint area itself.

I had a really bad pinched nerve for a few months and it felt like it was in my shoulder. Turned out I had a twisted vertebrae and it was doing the pinching...bad news is, nothing but strong pain killers worked for that

Demerol is good stuff. But... I have a little story for you about it...

Back in 2002, my girlfriend (now wife) had me and my daughter over to her apartment for dinner. She was going to fry up some french fries, so she put a full pan of cooking oil on the stove, and turned it on high. She absent-mindedly forgot about it and left it there, covered, for 10 minutes. She almost burned the apartment down when it caught fire.

I grabbed the handle of the pan with my left hand as far back as I could. Man it was hot! I very carefully walked it over to the front door (which was very close to the kitchen). It was a little cold out as I remember, because when I opened the door, the cold air blew the flames in my face.

All I remember is closing my eyes and reacting by throwing the pan. The Good Lord was watching out for me that day, as when the grease flew forward, it's dispersal through the air caused it to flare out and burn up almost completely before it hit the ground (literally there was one spot of grease on the ground about the size of a softball). I didn't sustain any injury to my face or body... however... some grease splashed back on my left hand and gave me 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 30% of the top of it and some fingers. We called 911, and I got an ambulance ride to the hospital.

Fire pain is horrible pain. It's like you are experiencing the injury over and over and over... and it's incredibly sharp. On the way over to the hospital, the ER Tech hit me with as much morphine as they are allowed to give. Still hurt like a mother fuger.

I got admitted, and was put in a triage room. I was left sitting there for an hour. The morphine had all but worn off, and I was writhing in agony. Finally they put an IV in, and a Nurse gave me some demerol.

It helped.... alot... but it didn't stop the pain. The Dr. came in and started removing burned skin... and I was just about howling... so they gave me more demerol... and some more... and a little more. They gave me almost the limit allowed in a given timeframe.

The last dose did the trick. I was flying so high, I hardly knew what type of creature I was and the planet I was on. They finished their work and bandaged me up, then sent me on the way.

Well, it wasn't long when I started coming down. As I was, I started yaking... nausea city... the pain came back like a freight train. Even the Oxycodone didn't help much (that's another story)

Anyhow... yeah... demerol good stuff. Just don't OD on it.

I had Demerol when I was in labor. I remember screaming in agony when I'd have a contraction and then I'd pass out inbetween when the contraction would subside then another contraction would come on and I'd wake up screaming again. I cycled like that for a few hours. I don't remember much but I remember Dan trying to help me by putting wet hot rag on my head, I took it and threw it and it just happened to be in his general direction. You can not help a woman in labor, just make sure they get the fug in there with the epidural.

If getting smacked dead in the face is what you call general direction then I guess you're right.
