Jimmy Chicken Poo Clausen

Boy am I starting to lose respect for this guy. I know he's a rookie but jesus christ he looks like David Carr out there. He's totally afraid to go down field. 3rd and 17 and he tosses it to Rosario for 3 yds gimme a break. Mike Goodson is the only reason he's looked half way decent the pass few weeks. It's acceptable to check down like that for the your first few games but come on this is getting pathetic. I refuse to believe that Smith, Gettis, and LaFell are shut down every pass. He's hesitant as a mofo. Reminds of that douche bag QB in the replacements.

Don't give me the offensive line crap. They suck, I know they suck, they have sucked all season and other QB's have pulled better performances with less continuity.

No QB has really looked better, but Jesus, one TD in 240 passes is Ryan Leaf numbers. Only 5 INTs in 8 starts isn't bad, but wow. He refuses to throw into the end zone.

Brian St. Pierre came off the couch and threw the same amount of TD passes as Clausen has in 8 games.

Jimmy isn't playing the QB position very well right now, but it is immpossible to judge this kid off of his performance this year. This OL is horrible. Absolutely horrible.

If Luck comes out and we draft him, it helps 0, absolutely nothing. If anything it will just ruin two young QB's in consecutive years.

The OL needs to be fixed before this team can be competitive again. Jimmy is probably not the future, but any young QB that we bring in here with this OL is going to be ruined.

True. It's Clausen's fault he didn't have one there. He didn't want it badly enough, was too willing to give it up and Sutton of course couldn't do it. Why not throw to LaFell like he had all drive?

It's just infuriating to see him get so close and refuse to throw TD passes. That's the only thing you can say, he refuses to throw touchdown passes.

You most definitely can judge Clausen this year. His tools, his grit, his smarts, his potential. You can judge little things in the game without judging the game as a whole. He has yet to show me ONE tool that will help make him a successful NFL QB.

I agree wholeheartedly that Clausen has not looked very good this year, and has not shown anything that would lead one to believe that he could be the future.

However, he is a rookie QB starting behind what may be one of the worst OL's to ever play in the NFL. That first half was embarassing at best. So I just find it hard to say that "He will never be any good". He definetly needs a change of scheme.

    • And that makes you right.
    • Mel Kiper said he would retire if Jimmy Clausen wasn't a successful NFL starter too. Just because the experts make a claim doesnt mean it's true either.  Bryce may be a serviceable QB for someone. Serviceable QBs don't bring you a perennial winner or lead you to the playoffs over and over. Serviceable QBs also dont get 50m plus per year deals which is what a Bryce extension would look like.  The stats show he hasn't been even a serviceable QB in the 3 years he's been here. The eye test shows he hasn't put together 2 franchise QB salary games back to back in 3 years.  Complain all you want about people being negative, but people pointing out that Bryce is held to a different standard than anyone else on the team isn't complaining. It's stating the obvious.
    • We have big bodied WRs and 3 TEs who all have potential and each bring something different to the table. I never saw the need to go out there and try and find a new starting TE.  While it's nice to have a guy like McBride, Bowers, etc, I think a team's better use of the cap is by having TEs on rookie contracts or cheap vets, not having to pay elite TE money.
