If Clausen were benched...

Brian St. Pierre is officially second on the depth chart.

That said, Keith Null could well be the starter given that BSP hasn't been ready to go since taking a beating (though not that bad of one, honestly) against the Ravens.

Would you see the benching of Clausen as more likely to lead to a win, or to make a loss even worse?

St. Pierre up until the last 7 minutes of that one game did fairly well. He did fairly well despite recievers dropping tons fo balls....and we were in the game. Sure things snowballed at the end.....but he also just got off the couch to play NFL QB.

I think he sucks overall....but he probably gives us a better chance to win. Overall though, it doesn't make much sense to play the guy. No real point in winning a game or giving him reps.

I think giving AE a some reps makes the most sense. Maybe not start him but at this point.....it doesn't make sense not to just see if there is any potential there.

On the post game radio interview Hurney said that he thinks that Clausen has the talent to play in this league but also said that they needed to solidify the QB position in the offseason...

...I think that he sounded as if he was just being nice and professional about Clausen but that he knows Clausen sucks

    • The aversion to tying up too much money in the ground game around when it’s what’s winning us games is crazy to me. I get letting Rico walk if you think he’s easily replaceable but I don’t see many people arguing that, just applying an arbitrary salary cap based on what we think RBs are currently worth. I’d rather be stuck with Hubbard as an overpaid backup (not the worst one to have, mind you) than lose out on the most productive player on the offense personally.
    • Why do people keep saying things like “it’s not Young’s fault we spent so much to draft him”? Who cares if it’s his fault?  Nobody is saying send him to jail or anything.  People aren’t talking about blame for the decision to draft him, they’re talking about how bad he is as a QB and how we’d be much better with even an average QB.  Pointing out that we sunk a lot of resources into drafting him isn’t invalidated because he didn’t make that decision himself. Doesn’t matter whose fault that was, he’s still not playing like a QB who was drafted at all, much less one that cost two firsts, two seconds and a #1 WR.
