The letters say the Panthers must receive the reinstatement payment by the close of business on Friday. Otherwise, the team would permanently cancel the PSL account, and owners would lose the money they paid for them – in some cases thousands of dollars.

I do not own a PSL, i do not have a dog in the fight

if it is in the agreement then they are well within their rights

Still, after that game they should be paying the people who actually did go to see that steaming dumb, not penalizing the ones who didn't...

Quote from the article....Some PSL owners say they couldn't afford tickets this year because of the economy. Others say they simply forgot.

How the hell can you FORGET to purchase your playoff tickets? You deserve to lose your PSL. For those that said they tried to sell them but couldn't.....people sell tickets on the street all day long. And for those having financial problems...I feel for ya. But they do offer you a way out with a reinstatement fee.

That same guy who said “I don't agree with it, but I would hope the Panthers would have some consideration as regards to the economy. Some people are suffering right now and some people maybe didn't have the money,” said earlier in the article that he bought his playoff tickets and tried selling them, but had no luck.

I can't help but wonder why he had no luck. He was probably one of the ones trying to sell at a ridiculous price. So, he's hoping the PANTHERS to have some consideration in regards to the economy, yet he was trying to rip someone off. It's only speculation on my part, and it very well may be false. But to me, that seems the most likely scenario.

I was at a Christmas luncheon with a Spartanburg businessman who told me he and his partners had decided not to purchase their playoff tickets. "Nobody wanted to go, and we wanted to save the money." I told him that he would be in danger of losing his PSLs, and he acted shocked ... like it was the first time he'd ever heard of that. Then, he acknowledged that someone else "managed" the PSL account for the group ... I told him he needed to get with that person immediately. It already was past the due date to pay for them. I wonder whether they've gotten the letter.

Sorry no remorse for them. It is known in the contract that you are required to buy them. The Panthers did us a favor by doing the Pay as they win deal.

Every time we get a playoff ticket invoice, it reminds us that in our PSL contract we are required to buy playoff tickets or forfeit our PSL.

Prolly should remind these people that if they don't buy their season tickets for next year they will forfeit their PSL as well. We get reminded of that in our ticket invoice letter every year as well. Yes, I know, its shocking.

    • This makes too much sense not to happen.
    • I'm not expecting it to happen, but we definitely need an upgrade at LB.  He fits the bill for sure
    • No, you're just flat out not comprehending what is going on, because if it was really how you think, more than only the first 2 players taken in the round would be signed right now.  Enough teams would just say screw it, it's not worth fighting with the agent over such a relatively low guaranteed cap hit. Your point about teams being afraid of spending that draft capital and not getting the player signed is also just asinine on the surface.  Because yes, the teams want to make sure the draft capital they used is on the field for them, but 2nd rounders fail more than they succeed in general.   If one holds out to try and re-enter the draft after a year off of football, they're tanking their career before it ever gets started and will fall further in that draft too.  Teams expect their 1st rounders to pan out, but they just hope their 2nd rounders do, it's why the pressure is on the team to sign a 1st rounder, but it's why the players have so much more to lose by holding out than the teams do for anyone after the 1st round. It's 100% about precedent, that's literally the only thing driving this right now, on both sides.  Again, if half the teams had signed them, or even a third of them, you might have a leg to stand on. But it's clear this has nothing to do with agent/team leverage at this point, it's about both sides trying to set a new precedent for contracts, and I don't see the agents winning this one on the whole.  Maybe a few more end up getting it, but I'd bet at least 20 of the 2nd round picks do NOT get a fully guaranteed contract.
