Hurney was Director of Player Operations and Jack Bushofsky was Director of Pro Personnel after Bill Polian left the team. When Seifert was hired, Richardson combined the two jobs back into a GM role that Seifert took along with head coach.

So Hurney was basically co-GM in 1997 and 1998 and then went back to salary cap guy from 1999-2001.
